    TKR Trailspud Recovery thread

I'm about 60 hours out from the poly exchange surgery. All is well. I have a ROM cycle that I've done a few times. It's not really needed. Very little swelling or pain. No bone cutting involved in the surgery. I have done a short 15+ mt. session both days after surgery day on my SkiERG in...

At about 24 hours after surgery now. Very little pain. I started the ROM machine this morning (OS ordered). Passive motion for 10 mts. at a gentle level of flexion followed by 2 mts. of super low resistance. So far, so good. Nap time.

Thanks @Pumpkin and @mendogal. I think after a cautious recovery I'll be doing fine and better. To answer one question, the Conformis (left) knee is fine. Like new. My right knee was pretty close, but I do get some swelling from certain activities that's my OS has long associated w/particle...

I'm home this evening after having a poly exchange surgery on my right knee. Doing well, a little pain, but otherwise good. The knee bends well w/o effort, walking w/a walker or cane w/stair rails has been efficient. Looking forward to a relatively short recovery and rehab. 11+ years out...

    OATS - MACI Oats recovery

One of my old 1990s ultra running friends had an OATS procedure and returned to trail running. Although he didn’t return to ultras, he continued to do many long mornings or afternoons out on the trails. I’m 8+/8- years out from two TKRs and I still run. Not long (3-7m) or fast, but I hike...

It’s been a strange year. I retired officially in latter May, but schools had been closed since mid-March. Perfect mountain day today. Hiked about 20m w/4 summits and two of my daughters joined me for the last 1/3rd and a final summit. Indian Paintbrush at 7,000+ on the Boise Ridge w/the...

As I tend to go away for extended times, another post to start 2020; I’ve always been hopeful as years begin. Maybe my birthday has something to do with it. I enjoyed hearing from some old friends here and I will aways think of Sonja when I log into this forum. I’m headed to the gym now. Every...

Revision TKR Never give up, keep trying, don't settle - that's me, Bonnie

@RunA42K I never come to this site w/o thinking of Sonja @RestAssured. What a beautiful soul. You were a kind friend. Thought she deserved a mention as this New Year begins.

Belated thanks, but it is finally 2020. My birthday today — 62 — and it’s raining like crazy in SW Idaho valleys with a lot of wet snow in the mountains so I’m headed to the gym soon. I just entered the 2020 Wasatch 100. I made it 1/3 of the way last September, but I’m focused on a much better...

    TKR Trailspud Recovery thread

A couple weeks ago I saw a knee doc for the 1st time in over 6 years. This time I saw a local doc, the one I would have chosen if I had my TKRs at home, and had X-Rays. 7+ and 6.5+ years out respectively (right, left), the bionic knees look brand new. I do have a slight gap/tilt in my left...

    TKR Cycle again?

You are just 3 weeks out from trauma. Your leg bones were cut across and drilled into with foreign metal objects. Rest. Ice. Rest more. Repeat. I was too quick to try to excercise after both TKRs. If I had four legs, it would probably take the 4th before I’d rest right. You will be fine in...

A few days ago I participated in the “class reunion” division of my old, favorite race. 13 hour hike for me with near 11,000’ of climb and just under 33 miles of steep, rocks, mud, storms...very fun. I never got my weight down anywhere close to what I needed and my training was also well off of...

I should get a selfie stick so my big face doesn’t block the great views :). But, it was a text pic. In a couple of weeks the east slope of that mountain will be a sea of lupine. Very beautiful. Some Indian Paintbrush, Lupine, and others from the drier west side.
