THR Yankee Recovery<<

So today I HAD to go to the VA hospital for my work and it entailed a LOT of walking and sitting on my incision (due to being able to work from home, I’m able to lay in bed and work, so sitting in a hard chair is rare). Needless to say I am very sore tonight. Please tell me after 7 weeks now, the groin, thigh and glute pain is normal. I still feel I’ve hit a wall and am not progressing quick enough. :tiredwheel:

It is, was for me. Especially after an active day.
You are doing fine...we just have to take extra care after hitting that dreaded old ODIC (Overdid It Club) and it can't always be helped as you had to do make your appointment.

Here is a great recovery chart.
Keep the faith and ICE it up today!:ice:

Thank you @Mojo333!

I sure am looking forward to a day when I am pain free, no stiffness, no soreness, nothing that sends pain to my brain. Patience surely is a virtue I need to work on!

I read a good one on Patience:
Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.
Not always easy when you're in pain, stiff and miserable. I had some mild groin pain yesterday at almost
a year post op. It's gone today though. It's a process and it seems like you go through spurts, then stall out a bit.
At only 7 weeks you are very early into recovery when you think about the many years that implant will hopefully stay in place and serve you.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Well I went to the Dr. yesterday. 7 was weeks post-op. Told him (in tears) about the sharp pain in my groin and how now I couldn’t even lift or slide my leg without a horrible sharp pain. He did X-rays and says the hip looks great. He told me it was my psoas muscle, which from what I have read here and elsewhere I tend to agree with. He showed me a stretch which did relieve some of the pain right then. He also referred me to PT.

Does anyone else here on this site have experience with the psoas muscle and how were you able to help it? This pain is horrible! I can’t move it the slightest bit without horrible pain. I am hoping PT is able to help, though I will certainly insist on not a lot of exercises, but maybe more about massage and stretches.

I also asked if the issue with this muscle could be contributing to the swelling on the side of my hip and the pain to the touch I have there and of course he said yes. He insisted it didn’t look infected, I’m sure it’s the bursa. But not sure if it is in fact referred pain.

I know this wasn’t supposed to be easy, and “no pain, no gain”, but this pain is ridiculous. And while I’m trying as my doctor asked to “keep the emotions apart from the pain”, it’s very hard!!
HELP my fellow hipsters!!!

Hi @yankees100
I'm sorry you're struggling.
It is frustrating and sometimes us girls just need a good old cry! :bawl:
It's great to hear the hip looks good on x-ray. I'm including an article in case you haven't read it.
Please don't do anything in PT that hurts. If it's painful, STOP.

I hope you find relief soon. :console2:

Thanks Layla! I’m just hoping the therapist is able to stretch the psoas and/or whatever muscle is causing the sharp pain.

I think that is wise and I hope it is a help.

:console2: Oh, I'm so sorry you are hurting.

Maybe in regard to surgery, but not in other aspects.

I certainly did all this to get rid of pain...as did we all.
You ARE still in very early days..try to baby that thing as you check out the PT stretches and let's get this recovery back on track. Don't forget to ice...
We are rooting for you!

:thankyou: @Mojo333 I need this recovery to get back on track! I wish I could say this is due to overdoing it, but I’m thinking it’s either due to my muscles saying “leave us alone, you haven’t used us in TWO years” or god forbid somethings wrong. So I’ll give PT a try and hopefully next week I’ll have some good news. In the meantime ICE and pain pills are the only thing getting me through. I would like to think I’m pretty tough, maybe not as much of other people, but I’m not a whimp, so I need to figure out what’s causing this horrible pain!

The OS has checked you out, so it's probably something similar to option #1. Constant pain is horrible, even when it's "only" 4 - it's tiring, depressing, and worrying, and it'll mess with the very hope that lead you to do this in the first place. Please stay in touch as you go through this - and try very, very hard not to lose hope.

I certainly hope it is just muscles complaining.
I hope your PT will help ...
Truly i do.
Just listen closely to your body and if it hurts, don't do it.
Hopefully this is just a hiccup...
I'm sending good mojo your way.:friends:

HI Yankees 100!
I just found this site and became a member! I feel for you and know that this is a process, everyone is in a different space and at different levels! Be safe, be gentle with your body and know that your process is yours! Just let your body heal (per my surgeons instructions)! We are all in this together...the "hipster club"!
Big Hugs!
