Hi Al. Do you mean you're home from surgery? Why don't you start a thread on the recovery forum now, and we'll follow you there. Be sure to include your surgery date in your signature.

See you there.

BigAl sell your wieghts take up swimming and buy a bycycle. Do you want to go through this hell again? I say treat your new hips like a new born baby and do not let any harm ,however remote, come to them. When I get mine, I intend to take the very best care of them that I can. I over used, abused, exercised to the point of stupidity and I cannot take a single step without sharp and somewhat unbearable pain. Never again, Never again.
Hello my current mobility is good. It only bothers me if i walk more than 3 blocks. Im stilll training legs. Will do one more leg workout the night before surgery. Im also going to use my tens unit for muscle stim after surgery as part of my recovery.

With all due respect, not all of us are interested in taking up swimming or cycling. Many of us undergo joint replacement in order to return to the activities that we love and which give our lives meaning. In Al's case, that would appear to involve lifting and he is blessed with a doc who understands that.

Al, best wishes for a painless and speedy recovery. See you on the Recovery side of the forum!

Hi Big Al,

Congratulations on your shiny new hip, hope all is going well with your recovery!! Do let your wife take care of you and baby you some and do keep up with your pain medications, resting and using ice so that you'll be back to your weight lifting when your OS gives you the Ok.

Take care,
Cardie

Hello everyone thanks for the wishes. Ill start a recovery log then. My wife is going to join too. I''ll let her fill you all in on the babying part lol.

hello i am trying to do everything for al but he is very stubborn and he says i am babying him to much i just want what is best for him i love and care for him so much

Hi Al

Congratulations on your shiny new hip..

Time to start a thread on the post op side that way more members will drop by and share your recovery journey and tell us how you are doing and how the surgery went... I am looking forward to following your recovery :)

Hi there, big Al's wife! You have my sympathies trying to reign in a big galoot like that! But you have to realise that he is not an invalid and some people just do like to race ahead. He may regret it sometimes but it's my guess that he would sooner die than admit it! But that's okay. His hip will heal fine regardless of those kinds of extremes and all he will get is some tendonitis or sore places that will take a bit longer to heal than usual. But heal they will and ultimately he will reach that

moment one morning when he realises that his hip was NOT the first thing he thought of when he got out of bed! It takes several months, but he will get there.

In the meantime, save your nerves and don't get frantic trying to reign him in.

How we love Jo and her words of wisdom.. This woman has a gift :)
