Some of the younger NAs need to be reminded to put ice device & leg pumps back on, and knee pulley for bed exercise which hurts at first but really eases stiffness every time. Always solicitous & take good are!
Passed gas today; on to bigger & better things tomorrow. Wink wink.

Did a lot today. After dnner was chilly & I was shivering. They turned up the heat & put blanket but #8 pain & not due for pain meds for an hour --ouch. Asked nurse if I could at least have 1 Tylenol to stay ahead of the pain - usually take 3 every 8 hrs. That lovely young nurse came in with Tylenol & I'm a #3. Will take day 'off' tomorrow since I'm moving to rehab. I hope they are as good. ;-)
And, as a bonus I got 2 stool softeners! HA! @Great Aunt Janet
Will check in on @Cindy99

Now, who would have thought we'd be looking at stool softeners as a 'bonus'!!! Joy! Hope they worked for you :) Keep that pain under control, it will make you feel horrible if you just suffer with it, and you need all that smiley faced stiff upper lippedness just for trying to walk/sleep/eat. medicate - and ice!
:console2:

I am at nursing/rehab facility. Very clean & cheery. I arrived after 45 min trip over every trolley route in & about of Boston. Good thing I was seat belted in and so much for a quiet day tho I did take an afternoon nap. They are very aware of meds. Therapy yesterday & twice today. Here until Tues then I'll be more than ready to go home to lovely weather. Thank you for your encouragement! Last nite legs were twitching as tho I could just catapult up out of bed. Smart legs! So positive!

Glad you're at the rehab facility! Keep following those Bonesmart mantras and you'll feel better every day!

Hope you're over your bumpy ride to rehab @wcgirl - and having some fun with sketches of the staff! Can you do that? Clever thing. You are almost a week post op and apart from the twitching (!) sound like you are doing really well and keeping chipper. You will be home for the best time in spring - with a new spring in your step! :)

Rehab place must be keeping you busy! Are you packed and ready to head home tomorrow? Will it be a bumpy trip? Glad you are doing well and hope that you keep posting as you adjust to home.

I'm one of those las minute packers going home -- just shove everything in a bag and adios!
I brot a pillow from home & hope we can avoid the potholes. :-) I've given my orders.;-)
Thank you for your good wishes. When is your surgery? I don't get that info easily on my cell. <3

Sounds like you are doing great! My surgery is in two days, 5/6 and expect to go home Friday or Saturday. Talked to the hospital nurse today who was more interested in how I lost weight than in the usual questions.

It will be nice for you to be home and hopefully the weather will be gorgeous.

I looked for an Avatar that was descriptive of me, long dresses, not svelt, have long hair, use to be strawberry blonde, and I love to travel. Thinking of retiring soon

Question: my rehab Doc & PT said I do not need ice therapy decise any more as I have had very little swelling. I do a lot today w walking. Stairs etc. we take off TEDs off at nite and I see ankle & foot swelling. I'm inclined to continue tonite. I can't imagine not using it as I have done so well & but then put on the Too Fast Fast track!
I just started therapy on Friday & hear about pushing PTs
Please Let me know what you think.

Not sure that I mentioned that my brother -- wonderful boy-- brought me a notepad & pen for me to diary. I kept a log of every pill (to confirm w nurse if there was a dosage question) and activity, pain level, etc. it really is so helpful. More than I post here -- you wonder-- could it be possible HA!
I'm one more nite away from my own bed. I think I'm ready!

I'm sure writing everything down helps your mental clarity too. I'm hoping I can take notes and be able to write them later.

- I'm still using iced up wheat bags now, 4 weeks later, whenever I get any tightness, swelling, pain - they are so lovely for making it all feel better. I think that is the bonesmart advice too!
:ice:

notepad & pen for me to diary.
My notebook was used a lot (tracking pills etc) and was very useful - but the stuff I 'wrote' in it the first couple of days post op is completely indecipherable and mysterious.

Now another question -- woke the last cour of nites w headache. I'm taking 3 Tylenol every 8 hours. Could I. Take another? Is this from Dilaudid - I'm going longer esp at night. My room is excessively hot -- thank goodness for the ice device or I'd be boiled.
I did put the ice devise back on and it helped the swelling & pain right away. Of course.

Have a little time on my hands and checked Josephine's Library articles. All very interesting about not getting behind on meds even when the pain spaces out naturally.

I thought the tylenol only was effective for 6 hours so I took 2 x 500 for 4 times a day. This dose was effective for me. Is your 3 x 8 hours working for you?

Although we all want to get off the meds as soon as possible, when I stopped a dose too early, it took several doses to get back to the control that I had had.

I hope you get home today (UK time) I think getting home really helps the healing!!
