TKR TKR Recovery surgery on 10/13/21

@FourCats and @ALOKneedsadvice although retired and I can't imagine how anyone can go back to work so fast after TKR I am finding that my other knee with is bone on bone and needs to be scheduled is really giving me a hard time with recovery as I can't do as much as I want to exercise wise on the surgical knee due to the left one not wanting to bend much. In fact I went and walked doing food shopping on Tuesday and my left one swelled up to almost twice the size and my foot and toes were swollen the New Knee had no problems are swelling. I have 3 cats too, all rescues, 10 yr old male and 1 yr old sisters.

@ALOKneedsadvice, I went back to my sitting job 4 hours a day starting at 5 weeks. I was completely exhausted at the end of each day and though my whole body wasn't sore, I had some soreness in weird non-knee places. I had to adjust my desk setup so that I'd be comfy sitting for long periods, have room to ice my knee while I sat and be able to use my under desk pedaler to stretch periodically. At 8 weeks, I started full time and am just now, at nearly 4 months, starting to feel higher energy throughout the day. That's my sitting job. Does your job require a bunch of sitting, standing or walking? I know you already do a ton of stairs in your home.

TKR - 3 MONTHS POST OP

Checking in here! about one month after my last post when I was feeling very sore all over my body and arthritis in my neck and shoulders was acting up. Plus pretty much total fatigue after coming home from my part-time job. I feel like I have turned a corner with my recovery. I'm finally getting to the gym and did a personal trainer help me get going, it feels good to feel sore (muscles not new knee- LOL). I'm at a desk job and working at least 30 hours a week. My new knee is not giving me any trouble and my left knee which is also bone on bone is doing o.k. too. I had a shot in early Jan when I went for my final surgeon's appointment. My left knee really cooperates with the injections, and I have a plan to lose some lbs and try to avoid TKR for the left. Let us PRAY!

It's really strange to go from 0 mph to 100 mph but I'm so grateful for all the support on this forum. To those of you who are in your first few weeks, it gets better...My advice is YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO EXERCISE ETC. RIGHT NOW, REST REST REST, ICE ICE ICE. Let it heal, don't feel guilty for laying around.
I really did not do a lot of PT and I learned my lesson after I took a walk too soon because I felt like I wasn't doing "enough". Let your body be your guide and listen to it! that's my 2 cents for what it's worth!

HAPPY HEALING and TAKE IT SLOW!

@ALOKneedsadvice Happy to read that you are doing so well, it's great for the newer members to see there is a light at the end of the tunnel xx

Great news on your recovery @ALOKneedsadvice! Thanks for sharing with those who are awaiting that sometimes elusive turning point. :happydance:
