Thank you all for the encouragement, positive thoughts & prayers. I'm still nervous but one of the major hurdles is over - making a decision. When I asked the surgeon how bad my hip was, he said "BAD BAD" lol. One good thing the hospital I'm having surgery at requires is attending a Joint/Hip replacement class. It explains surgery, what to expect during recovery, limitations & you get a tour of the Ortho surgery unit and meet the staff. That makes me feel at ease. I left the surgeons office with printouts specific to my surgeon, pamphlets & a 3ring binder that has info and a pre-surgery checklist. I was given my form to have filled out by my PCP for surgery clearance. So far, it's all organized and not last minute chaos. Yay!

Great news and I do believe you will take comfort in this. So much of the pre-op anxiety lies in the unknown and the more familiar you are with the process, hopefully the less anxious you'll feel. We'll be with you too, supporting you along the way. Wishing you lots of comfort as you're waiting for your surgery date.

@Lisa76 you are on your way!

I had never been hospitalized, no broken bones, etc. I was very concerned about the trauma needed to get the bionic parts in place.

But the pain got so bad for so long I looked it as freedom day.

When I met my surgeon I said 'Nice to meet you, unfortunately that is my hip on the computer screen'

The xray was that brutal.

That hip is gone and I feel better each day.
