As much we all hate the word "infection" I am happy to hear it's "only" the chest infection.
Now that they properly diagnosed it they will attack it with antibiotics and you will be fine soon.
Take it easy, everything is going to be fine!

Sorry you have a chest infection but what wonderful news that you are able to go home with medication.

Wonderful news that you're home! I bet you'll rest so much easier in your own space. I hope the meds go to work quickly clearing your chest infection. You sound happy, nonetheless. Wishing you comfort and a good day! :SUNsmile:
 
Glad to see that you're home and resting comfortably. Hoping the meds kick in really quick and get that chest infection out of there so you can concentrate on healing!
 
Have had a lovely relaxing morning. Hubby went to work so I stayed in bed until my daughter arrived. She made my breakfast and helped me shower.
I feel so much more mobile this time, can lift my leg to get into bed and walk using one crutch. However I assume I am right that I shouldn’t be doing this much so will continue to make sure I take it easy.
was very stiff this morning when I woke so maxed out on the pain relief at 6am and this seems to have worked in that I haven’t needed anything since, just my trusty ice!
 
Glad to read that you are home and happily tucked in! "Just a chest infection" sounds A-ok at the moment. :heehee: Glad your team was so diligent and figured things out for you.
It sounds like you had really good care during your hospital stay.

Now the real healing can begin. :flwrysmile:
 
Day 8 of life as a double hippy!
This recovery seems much easier so far. I seem to have less pain. One of the main differences is pain around the incision, last time touching it or sitting felt like hundreds of pins were poking into my side. This time there is no pain there at all, no idea why but I am thankful!
I seem to have got into a routine with pain relief which along with ice seems to work!
unfortunately the weather here has been awful so I have been unable to get out for a walk so have to be content pottering around the house, even managing short distances with one crutch .
I do however feel very tired still, to be expected I suppose given my low Hb and a chest infection, still taking iron tablets and antibiotics so I sure that will improve .

You seem to be doing very well. Given the choice, I'm sure we all would hope a second recovery would be easier than the first. At least I know I would. You're lucky! Congrats on your great progress, may it long continue.

@tessa How wonderful it is, that this recovery, is going even better than your first recovery! It seems like you have your pain management routine worked out well. Bravo!
Sometimes when the weather is less than ideal, I open a window or two to let some fresh air in, to at least smell some fresh air.
I hope you continue to get better.
 
So happy to hear that recovery is going well so far and glad that it seems easier than laser one. I would hope the same if I ever have to do #2. Maybe it's a good thing the weather is awful, keeps you from going out and overdoing. Plus it's probably best you stay in until you're sure that chest infection is gone. Have a restful day!
 
Yesterday the rain stopped and the sun came out long enough to enable to get out for a short walk down the lane and today we went out for lunch in a sea front cafe, it was cold but beautifully sunny! I managed both without difficulty, just needing a lie down when I got home!
I am only taking paracetamol for pain relief during the day.
I had been having rather strange sleep experiences, not exactly nightmares but vivid dreams and noises as I doze, in addition an insatiable thirst which of course means I drink more and have to get up during the night. I wondered if these are side effects of the gabapentin so I didn't take it last night (just two paracetamol and codeine), certainly no increased level of pain and no vivid dreams. The thirst is also less.
I have completed the course of antibiotics and no symptoms chest wise.
so all in all I don’t think I could ask for much better so far!
 
You may want to check with your doctor about the gabapentin and possible side effects. Don't know how long you've been taking it so you may want to be careful just stopping it, again, check with your doc. I used to take it and in high doses so that's why I say be careful stopping it without weaning off of it, especially if you've been taking it for quite some time.

Other than that you sound like you're doing well and things have started to turn around for you. :happydance:

I have only been talking it for a week , at a low dose. I was only prescribed a 14 day course with no plans for continuing it.
I have stopped taking it and already feel better with no increase in pain levels.

Your sunny lunch at the sea front cafe on Thursday sounded lovely as I'm gazing out my window at a snowfall :tantrum: NOT READY for this!
