THR Tessa’s second go!

Unfortunately my blood count has dropped even further which explains the overwhelming exhaustion and I now need a blood transfusion.
so frustrating, I won’t be able to go home!
hip wise it’s great, only had paracetamol and ice and no pain at all at rest, which is mainly what I am doing now!

Oh dear, well, that will help you instantly. My mom experienced that with her THR and it was pretty amazing how much better she felt.
At least you are getting good care, home will be patiently waiting for you, maybe tomorrow?

I, too, had low blood pressure after after my THR on November 5th. It was after being given Tramadol. I managed with acetaminophen after that, but wish I had insisted on something stronger for the first few days.

Sorry you're still having the issues with your blood count and blood pressure. Sending prayers that the transfusion does the trick and gets you back in the pink so you can go home.

Little to no pain and getting in some good sleep is definitely a plus. Hopefully you're sleeping well now.

What a blessing that you were in the hospital when all of these things occurred. I can only imagine how frightening all of these things might have been if they happened at home, or you weren't aware of them until it became an emergency. Here's hoping things have finally stabilized for you and you'll soon be home, sleeping in your own bed, with fewer interruptions.

i have had two units of blood and can already feel the benefit!
I slept reasonably well, woke at 4am with pain mainly in my lower back , but certainly not severe.
hopefully home this afternoon

My... what an eventful time you’ve had already!!! So glad they’ve sorted your low HB out.. perhaps it’s a reaction to the meds.
On the plus side it seems your pain is well controlled & you are sleeping well... what a bonus that is.

Oh dear! Despite feeling much better I have continued to have a raised temperature so the consultant wants me to stay in another night and have more bloods done tomorrow.
I know he is right but very disappointed.
continue to have little pain , only had paracetamol and ice today.
lets see what tomorrow brings!

The good news is that it is not unusual to have a raised temperature post op. They will just monitor and I'll bet you go home tomorrow. Hope you sleep well!

@tessa Yesterday you described your temperature as high. Has it dropped a bit? I am so glad they are closely monitoring you, before they will release you home. Hoping you have a comfortable and restful night. Hoping for the best for you.

Well I am still in hospital!
slept well again, had paracetamol, codeine and gabapentin at 11 and then didn’t need anything else till 8am, despite getting up for a loo trip.
Temp has dropped a bit which is good.
The surgeon has discussed with the medical team and a consultant is coming to see me and wants me to have a chest x ray.
just so tired!

Sorry about you still being in hospital. Best place at times even if it annoying. They seem to really want to have everything squared away before you leave. This is a good thing so that once you go home you will be all set.

Well they have discovered I have a chest infection! It’s not severe so I am to be started on oral antibiotics and go home!
