THR Tashia's Hip is in Recovery, WOW!

Thanks everyone, I really look forward hearing from everyone. Now that its been some time from the fall I am finding I hurt myself in some other places. I have a bruise on my chest so I really must of hit the floor much harder than I thought. To get my self off my fall, I started to look at new cars on the internet. Right now my car is out of commision and not being able to drive really :wacko:me. I don't stay home well at all. I not a person who likes buying cars anyway so I am really uneasy about this but I know that I need one so I can get out of the apartment. I keep cars at least 10 years so I don't have to think it often. This is the first time to buy one by myself.. I will donate my car because I don't want to spend any more money on it. I almost think of renting cars on weekend to find out which one doesn't hurt my hips or knees. I do need a knee replacement sometime this next maybe my other hip too so the car has to be easy to get and out of. Life at times can be interesting at times. Well I need to decide what I need to do next. Rest or look more on the internet on cars. Oh I just remembered I forgot to check on the latest quilt patters so that must come first. Everyone take care . :doggieshmooze:Tashia:th_heehee:

Tashia, I had one of those alert devices for three months after my surgery. Then last year, when I fell in the garden and injured my shoulder so I couldn't get up, since then I have always taken my cell phone with me where ever I go - even just to put seed out for the birds. I don't step outside the house and I don't go up or down stairs without it. Never, ever again!

I love trying different cars and there's no substitute for actually driving them for a few days to find what suits you.

When we were in Florida for a month over Christmas I rented 4 different cars. The first was a Mustang - great car to drive but totally impractical. Hertz advertises it as a 4 seater but it is definitley a 2 + 2 (small kids) and only 1 suitcase in the trunk. That had to go when we needed 4 adult seats so they gave me a Toyota Corolla. Nice to drive but still too small. Then came a Chevy Impala which I hated. It drank petrol, drove like a motorised armchair and was generally unpleasant. Last came a VW Jetta (a Golf (Rabbit in the US I think) with a trunk). The one they gave me was a 2.5L auto. Great to drive (the auto box could also be used in 'manual' mode), quite quick, reasonable MPG, comfortable and a sensible size. Maybe I'm biased but European cars seem so much better designed than US or Japanese.

Getting a short list of 2 or 3 and then renting each for a couple of days would be a sensible approach for something you are then going to live with for the next 10 years!

It's good to have a 'project' and it will take your mind off the health issues. Good luck!

Hi Tashia
I have not posted in a couple of days. My computer was broken. Actually is was the cable box. The cable guy was just here and put a new one in.

Sorry about your fall. Hope you heal soon from it. Yes, I agree having a device for calling for help is very important. I have my cell phone on me at all times. When I broke my ankle in 2010 I was lying outside and was able to call my son. Even in the house I keep it on me. After my hip surgery my blood pressure was so low. The first day that that I was alone at home, I was passing out and too far from the sofa. I ended up calling my neighbors and they came right away to help.
Take care of yourself Tashia. :loll:
Good luck looking for a new car.

Hey Tashia,

Good luck with the car hunt. It can be daunting but it will give you a project for now, as well as your quilting. How are the toes, knees and chest coming along after the fall? Hope every day is a little better. Hope you had a good day today, thinking of you as we are going to have a couple of wintry days here...cold, wind and snow, but can't complain as it had been an easy winter so far. It will give me a good excuse to stay in and watch movies. Take care.

Thanks everyone for posting. I had a problem yesterday with my stomach. It got so bad that I ended up in the ER. At least they did a cat scan so I could rule out some real serious stuff. However saying that I am concered that I needed morphine to cut the pain. Must follow up on this I just wish I knew whats going on. As for the injury from the fall they looked at them and that was it, they told me see my own doctor if any concerns for the bruises, toe, etc. they did say my toe was broken but didn't even tape it. really surprised me on this. I found that I really have a good size bruise on my chest, no wonder it was tender. Thanks for the subjection about the cars, it does sound like a good idea to rent one. I need to donate my old car first. It has been a excelent car but now every time I turned around it has something wrong with it and putting lots of money in an old car doesn't make sense. the only thing is that the license of the old car is low because every year it has to be licensed and a new car will be very expensive. But it would be neat not have to worry every time I go to sewing at night will i be able to get home. Diane I hope the weather has gotten better, today we were close to the 70s. Spring has come early but boy do we still need the rain. However having the sun is sure nice. Well thats enough from me. Everyone take care and I'll talk to you later after resting more. :doggieshmooze:tashia:friends:

So sorry Tashia. But that's what ER's are for and I'm glad you got the pain meds you needed. Hopefully you can find out what is going on with the tummy. I broke my toe several years ago and no tape on it, they said to just let it heal on it's own. Oh, 70 degree weather sounds so nice...tonight we are supposed to have 60 mph winds! Take care of yourself Tashia. Talk soon.

Hi Tashia,
Sorry to hear about your tummy and I hope you are feeling better soon. :cry4:
Happy to hear you are enjoying good weather.:dancy:that can be a great emotional boost.
I had to sell my car. My muscles were just not strong enough to operate the clutch. I was sad to see it being driven away. BUT I am now happy with my automatic as its given me back some independence. My husband feels his life is easier now. He still drops the boys to school in the morning though, which is great. It saves me rushing :hysterical:( as if I could) or rather attempting to rush and getting in the way. The boys like that extra bit of dad time too. Good luck with the car hunt.:thumb:

Hi Everyone, My tummy I guess is better at least I'm not doubled over. I am getting so sad that they can't find out whats wrong. I feel that I am eating right but I do feel I am getting weaker and does scare me. I feel so tired all the time. My hurts from the fall are getting better that good. but I have to be honest I really feel down. I just want to be able to drive and get back into life. Will talk to you later.:doggieshmooze:Tashia:sigh:

Hi Tashia, I hope you will follow up with your GP and get to the bottom of your stomach problems. So sorry you ended up in ER. Scary!

Take care and rest. Tomorrow is another day!

Aww Tashia sorry to hear about the tummy problems, those can be the worst pains ever!!Maybe a stomach bug going around??

I do hope you start feeling better quickly:flowerysmile:

Today I finally realized that this stomach has been going on about five years. I didn't connect the lines until I had to have morphine to cut the pain. I had been thinking it was just the flue but it wouldn't go this long or need such a strong drug to cut the pain. Now that the lines have been connected i need to see a stomach doctor and if God willing I will find the problem. To say the least I now feel very down and wonder whats happing tomarrow and the next. On the good side the weather has been wonderful and warm. I going to sign off now I really having problem to be positive. :doggieshmooze:tashia:gaah:

Tashia,

If you can realize the good thing is that you have become aware of your health issues and are willing to face them head on now...Believe me I know how hard it is but you are doing it. I had to have gall bladder surgery in July after 2 trips to the ER with tummy issues. I'll be praying you find the right doctor who can properly diagnose you and help with the healing. Never give up...you are worth it and so important to us here on bonesmart. Take it easy hon.

Hi Tashia
So sorry about your tummy pain. Be sure to make an appointment with a doctor tomorrow to find out what's going on. So you know what's the matter and can start to heal.
It will get better.
Just think soon you will be having another car and go places again. And maybe a dog?? :doggieshmooze:
You asked me about my dogs. I have three of them. All of them are rescues. I have an eleven year old Newfoundland/ Golden Retriever mix, a nine year old Chow/blackLab mix and a three year old unknown mix. Looks like some kind of terrier.
They are awesome companions.
Take care Tashia and I hope you get some sleep tonight.

Hope your tummy problems are easing Tashia. It's great you now realize the connection. Please go and have it checked out. Let us know how you get on.

Jaycey,, I was feeling very good at bedtime so I went tp bed and sleep for over six hours and pain woke me up. It has been almost 12 hours that I took med for pain. Moving in the right direction now that my tummy has calmed down. What got my stomach going was when I was in a coma for almost a month. Of course I didn't have any food im my stomach the whole time. when I stated eating again I had such pain I curled up for a couple of weeks until it got use of working again. I have had trouble off and on since then. I have no idea juat what makes it start. I do know I have had lots of stress since then but I have had a cat scan so there is no tumors. So could all this be just stress" The meds that were given me are used when you are having treatment for cancer. So I do find this a little scary. I was also checked for ucles and wasn't found so it keeps coming up with stress and pain with my knees and hips. And it hurts mostly when I am alone in the apartment. Of course not having my car not working doesn't help. My broken toe is getting better, but still hurts at times. I will need to see my doctor not only for the stomach but in the fall I hurt my shoulder also and I would feel better if I knew it wasn't hurt real bad. The bruise on my chest is also getting better. I do know life does have its ups and down but I sure could use a long spell of ups. On the postive did I tell you I found the fabic for my quilt. I think it wil be absolute beautiful. It will make a Quilt for a soilder. It's sad to think that some young man has to hurt to receive a quilt. I would just like to give them a quilt just for being in the Arm Forces. I also have come up with some good idea to fix my apartment so I just need my car to work so I can get it started. I sound like I have nothing to think about is negative but the weather has been so neat. We have been having the days near the 70s, Now i think we are going to have some rain next week which will be a nice break and the mountains are going to have snow.. I have also been thinking about what kind of dog I want. I decided that since it will be a rescue dog it up to God on that one. Next week i hope to get my new inserts which I am really looking forward too. Well that's enough from me. for the new people that are just reading the posts Welcome. As you notice life has its ups and downs and here you find people to surport no mater what. Everyone take care and remember every day puts us one day closer to full recover. :doggieshmooze:Tashia:loll:

Sounds like your tummy problems might be stress Tashia. With your history I am sure your stomach is very sensitive. Do you think maybe the stress of your fall caused your stomach to react? I am not a medical expert but I had a time in my life when any little thing would cause stomach problems.

Sounds like you need something to keep you busy. Certainly a rescue dog would not only keep you busy and active but also give you something to care for. I am sure there is a dog out their looking for a loving home.

Glad you found your quilt fabric! Take care Tashia!

Tashia, I'm glad you are going to get this checked out. One thing I'll tell you if it is stress related is that getting a dog may be the best medicine ever. Having a faithful companion is wonderful therapy for what ails a person. If it's a rescue dog, then you'll save each other!!!

Tashia,

That is really, very nice of you to do that quilt. I'm impressed.

And as you read throughout these threads...our animals can bring us so much joy, even on down days. I hope that works out well for you...

Good luck with your appt. I hope you get the answers that you need...

I know that until I get unpacked and my apartment done bring a dog in will be very diffiucult. The dog needs to feel like she is settled to and right now no way would she feel that. Also I need a car so I can get to the dog places. So you might say I stuck between a rock and a hard place. I get so frustrated at times because recover is going so slow. :doggieshmooze:tashia:flowerysmile: P.S. Jacey you might be right about the stomach problems.
