Revision TKR Stubborn New Knee<

Been awhile since I update my info and this has definetly been a journey!! I went to see a 2nd doctor one year after the tkr was completed. He completed a CTscan on the implant and found issues with the original installation. Revision surgery took place on 10/30/18 and I am again working the recovery process. One week after revision surgery, I am 103 degrees flexion and -3 extension. Differences from first to 2nd surgery is not as much pain, not as much swelling, the appearance of the 2 legs looks more normal. All I heard for a year was it was me, your doing too much, your not doing enough, etc. When I was out for my revision surgery, the doc measured ROM before op and was only able to get 85 degrees. 125 after.

I’m sorry to hear you had to have a revision but am happy it’s better than the original!

Best wishes for a great recovery!

Welcome to recovery again, @Sportin89
I'm goad to hear that this time things seem to be starting better.

As a reminder, here is another copy of the recovery reading:
Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now; they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
rest
elevate
ice
take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)
don't overwork.
3. Do what you want to do BUT
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.
4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these
5. Here is a week-by-week guide for Activity progression for TKRs
