TKR So tired!

I noticed that it’s taking me a few days to recover from the pushing and PT.
If this is happening to you, then PT is not helping you at all. It's just setting your recovery behind. With you doing all the work you are, you don't even need to take PT anymore. You are getting plenty of exercise!
It's so easy to think that you should be further ahead than you are. Many surgeons don't warn their patients that recovery from a knee replacement takes a long time. It takes a full year for complete recovery, although you will feel much better long before that.

This recovery is a long haul, more like a marathon than a sprint, so you have to pace yourself and dig deep for as much patience as you can find.
Where are you in recovery?? (TKR)

Thank you, Celle! I’m just an impatient patient! I think he warned me, but I’ve had 9 other knee surgeries from clean-outs, lateral releases and plica removals! I just thought I could handle the pain better, but I can’t! I just have to give into it.

I've had 11 knee surgeries, and the recovery pain from the TKR takes the cake, by far.

Ahhhj, wow! This is the last for the left..,I hope! I go back next week to see about the other one. I’m hoping he says to wait....

I hear you about work. I'm fortunate that I can work from home and take naps when tired, but I still have an hourly expectation of 55 per week and attorneys and projects to manage.

It takes a while to get used to working again, and I can't imagine the stairs, stooping, etc that is involved with real estate work.

People will understand if you take time for yourself, even if at the office you lie down and elevate for 15 min.

I’m far from stooping and I think I might let clients go upstairs by themselves for right now. I have also been working from home, but this afternoon I have to meet clients for a home inspection. I should be able to sit for most of it. I have been giving into naps lately. Thanks, Lisa!

Stooping might be a while off in your future, but you should be able to manage a short meeting at the property with your clients. Don’t be afraid to be eccentric when it comes to pampering your knee. Consider, for example, an inflatable ottoman. They’re ever so light and very useful for elevating. I have one I used for outdoors or when going to a picnic or other park event. Your clients will understand if you baby a knee replacement. Most people cringe at the mere thought of one.

Heading to the surgeon today to see about doing the other one! Ugh! Sleep is still evading me at 8 weeks P.O. I have a bit of restless leg syndrome probably from
Being so tire?

@bellabee - I've moved the above post from the Social Room thread into your own recovery thread. You should post questions about your knee and its recovery in your own thread.

It's not unusual for your knee to make noises. It's because, instead of the relatively softer bone and cartilage, you now have metal and plastic parts moving over each other. The noise should decrease as your knee continues to heal.
This article explains:
Clicking/clunking knee joint after surgery

Sorry, and thank you! I got confused and thought I was in a different spot! Thanks also for the info!

I think the knee starts to click, or at least in ways we notice, when the swelling starts to go down. That’s what happened with my knees. At about two months the right knee started to clunk ever so quietly, and about two weeks later it stopped. About two months later the left knee chimed in and started clunking. It too stopped clunking a few weeks later. Every once in a while I will hear/feel a clunk or two but mostly the knees are silent. Most knees clunk a little somewhere along the way.

Oh Susie!! That’s exactly where I am! The swelling has gone done! Thank you so much for the response. It really helps. Have a great day!
