"The people who love me sometimes cry with me! I think that's healthy?!"
Thank you @Sullivand.
While we all seem to know that humor helps us heal, we sometimes forget there's often a place for tears and this, too, can help us heal.

There are the tears of pain, when we feel we simply can't hurt any more.
There are tears of anguish, when we wonder if life is still worthwhile.
There are tears of fear when we question our decision to go through with our surgery.
Then, sometimes, tears of regret when things don't seem to be going as they should afterwards.
Tears of relief when we realize it's OK to not hold on to the pain by ourselves and someone who cares for us shares our pain and wraps us in their love.

It's easy to laugh. It's hard to cry - and even harder to let others see us cry.

I posted your post to supsurfer as I thought it was so relevant to him and he did appreciate it

You know, I think practice makes perfect . . . :eyebrows: . . . so long as you have a willing partner to experiment with . . . :eyebrows: ..... ....... Oh, I was so afraid of breaking my new parts when I had my hip surgeries. . . but .. . right now with back surgery, I'm spending so much time staring at the ceiling anyway . . . urgh! why am I still afraid of breaking something . . . I guess its the
hooked to several ice packs, heating pad or electric tens unit, legs elevated over ancient sleeping bag rolled up is probably a mood killer for him anyway. :swoon:

Our partners are often more scared than we are. Its a long road of rediscovery, but as long as both are honest the road whilst rocky and scarey at times is a wonderful journey as they realise nope can't break you. Its like many things in this process it just happens

Some of you may recall my asking my OS at my sex-week, er, I mean my SIX-week check-up about how, when, where, etc would it be ok....and the "old man sex brochure" he shoved in my hands. Well, amazingly enough, it was what hubby and I needed to find the laughter in the situation. Was it easy and normal the first time after THR? Nope. But everything I tried was difficult so why did I think I'd fall back into his arms?? By the time we chuckled our way through all the possible safe positions, I was ok!

He actually was more concerned (and still is, at times) than I but a little assurance goes a long way. He sees me going about life as usual now and his fears are subsided.

I'm rewriting the sex brochure hence lots of research necessary. Teehee. @Me2, that's for you!! Hugs, all, and a belated happy 4th.

I suggest you research positions and try some experimentation. According to what I've read on the subject, hippies find it better to start with doggie style approaches with partner standing/laying on the bed and man standing behind. That way you don't stress anything in or around your new hip.

@beachgal you made me laugh. All the doctors I have seen are at least 20 years younger than me. They must wonder what all these "old ladies" are up to.

As I wrote this i thought my husband said " Its sexing quick" I thought "what is he on about" BUT he was referring to Venus, planet on the horizon saying "Its setting quickly" !!

So guffawing.
Its all part of the loving caring relationship both are acutely aware of our partners emotions and needs. Oh and yup humour is the best combatent against failed experimentation.
