@frieds Yes , its correctable. That is so key. My PA said he felt fortunate to not have to tell people you have a horrible disease, since it is correctable. @chaseyboy Your goals are great and you will achieve. To ALL my buddies, please have a happy Christmas season! :presnt::huggy santa:

@chaseyboy I was just reading back over your thread. I'm doing really well. Today is day 33 and I feel good! I am so happy to have the procedure behind me! I've been pretty uncomplicated throughout which I am truly grateful for, and I hope it continues that way. I was also "terrible" before surgery. I'd worked out at least 6 days a week for 2.5 years (osteo 4.5 years) and then suddenly in August of this year my hip was locking so badly that I could no longer even ride a bike at the gym -- or lay down on a weight bench to lift and get back up! I'm back at the gym (working my way back with amount of time -- currently 35 min. bike and elliptical mix). I'm the principal at an elementary school, and no one at work can believe how much "less pained" I look and how much better I walk! I'll be following your thread. Make sure to keep typing how everything is going. I want to hear the "after surgery" report where you are again able to keep up easily with your daughter on shopping sprees! Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Years!

as soon as you can. We wish you the best!!

Yes I have a surgeon been speaking with for about six months. As my last injection didn't stick and work - think surgery will be this year as I want quality of life back - like walking without a limp and chronic ache. Little things haha!

it really does sound like we are in same place.. have not tried injections...but acupuncture, herbs exercise.. a futile attempt :(. are you thinking anterior or posterior?

Originally posterior but at last visit surgeon said he thought I was a good candidate for anterior. His associate does them that way. I am researching this guy but have to admit it appeals to me as less trauma and stronger muscles for speedy recovery. I am fearful of reinjury as I can be a klutz and anterior sounds like less chance of dislocating. I am sure there are pros and cons to both so I'm still researching. Truthfully I just wrapped my head around the fact that this is going to have to happen within the last few weeks. I had a steroid injection that worked for ten months so I was lucky until now. Even now I have high pain threshold so more fortunate than others.

I too have a high tolerance to pain... I think I have been hobbling around for longer than most would:( I think I am beyond the injection stage..I am planning to see two doctors this month...one does anterior ...one not...I am leaning to anterior too. I am very healthy...but hope I did not let hip go to far with damage.

@frieds and @psychteach I am also trying to lose 20 pounds; joined Curves and doing one day of PT for exercises to strengthen hips/knees/core area to try to optimize how I do. Hope it works. :spin:

I have a hot tub...it is great for no pain stretching and exercise..I am not needing to lose weight..althought I have gained about 10 pounds from lack of movement...I have always been thin...more worried about lack of aerobic exercise for my heart... out of shape from not being able to be as active as I used to be. I think getting in shape can only help..eating well too and supplements...
