THR Seeing the Light!

I worked in healthcare for many years, very closely with clinicians. Most (especially the Pathologists) were very kind and resonable, if not a little arrogant. But some were absolute arrogant jerks (and jerks is not the word I really want to use... that word starts with a “d” and rhymes with sticks).

@lovesstars, do you have enough med left to wean off slowly? The weaning period recommended in my little Hip Recovery hospital booklet is one to two weeks... not sure what yours would be. If not, might want to talk to your GP.

Cheers

@wonkyhipoy i was taking three tramadol every 24 hours. I have reduced to one in the last three days...and I really still need that one. I am also taking Celebrex and Tylenol. My goal is to stay with one per day for a week and then try to go to ½ per day. Will try to reduce to nothing from there. I will need to keep some in reserve for when I “do too much”. (Which is a very likely scenario) :rotfl:

Your OS is missing an empathy chip. Unfortunately I don't think you can expect much from him.
I'm happy to feel your determination. But please don't suffer.
You may get more attention and a better result through a visit with your OS if your pain is still too great.
I hope you have a good day. Know that we're here for you!
@lovesstars

@lovesstars seriously lovey fudge the lot of them. This is your pain and if you need painkillers then you need them! We put up with alot of pain as women, so if we are asking for them, then it's not done lightly. Do some online retail, that always cheers me up. We all love you and have so got your back! Xx

@lovesstars So sorry to hear about your nim nuts pea brained cold hearted OS! But not meaning to "judge" him... I'm sure he has his reasons for being unevolved. Just wanted to share with you something that might transpire with you too. When I started trimming the meds and splitting the pills I was really surprised at how the half oxy felt like the full. I couldn't really feel a difference. What had happened I think was some decent quiet healing had taken place that I wasn't yet aware of and I was actually moving into reduced inflammation / pain zones before I recognized it, if that makes sense.

Same thing happened when I had to work long hours and be off cane. I'd anticipated such a blowback of aches and pains that didn't manifest. Again, yet more subtle deep tissue healing had been going on behind the scenes while I was still in the previous weeks mode of expectations.

Morale of the convoluted story is, I believe for all of us it's hard to gauge or "sense" our new levels of recovery but it IS an inevitable and ongoing process that can totally surprise you one day, seemingly out
of the blue.

Oops. On phone in a hurry and that posted too fast before finishing!
Just to share that i had not yet observed the degree of healing that each week was bringingway deep inside until body was put to a little test. I hope this will be your case as well...it is the natural tendency - to lean towards repair and well being. I wish that for you!!! Hugs and whips! :)

@lovesstars I am still astonished by what went on at your last visit, but am so incredibly impressed by how you picked yourself from that very negative situation and are proceeding forward :yes!:, albeit probably feeling battered by the experience emotionally. I have the greatest respect for our surgeons and their abilities, but they still put their pants on the same way every morning and I have no time for being cruel. There is a way to deliver a message and provide help, in a thoughtful and supportive way and your experience the other day was not that! It angers me so. The assistant passing out was an added complication.

What @1stSurgery says is so true...
I believe for all of us it's hard to gauge or "sense" our new levels of recovery but it IS an inevitable and ongoing process that can totally surprise you one day, seemingly out
of the blue.
and also her comment about little (emphasis on little, as in not to ODI) tests on the body rings really true. One can only find one's boundaries by trying reasonable new things. I find the structured exercise, and building on that, is a good way for me to find my limits, as one can measure where one has gone too far, without going over the limit. We just have to listen to our bodies, even when it is just a whisper.... You are doing that with the swimming and physio strengthening. Pace yourself...you have nothing to prove to that :censored: OS! You are on your way!

@Alitm yep you are right. I did swim yesterday and the day before and today I am just pooped. I did a bit of cooking, made a chocolate cake and a pot of soup and now I am just laying down. I am done. Tomorrow I will go back to the pool.

Look and see the thing I am writing about moving FORWARD right below this to @Bevlah:

@Bevlah that is certainly helping. I bought some wrapping paper and ribbon, some wool tights, some contact lenses and ordered a small sample of grey velvet. I told @EL11 that it makes no sense for me to keep going over the events from earlier this week. I just want to move forward. FORWARD. And...as I also told her...these are significant steps towards returning to life...making a pot of soup, driving now and then, wearing actual clothes, going to the pool, bearing my scar for all to see in the gym locker room! (Exhibitionist I am not!!!)

@1stSurgery I have missed you this week. Where the heck has your face been? My whip was clearly in the trunk of the car or I would have had it with me at that appointment we are NO LONGER GOING TO MENTION.

I don’t have a picture of the chocolate cake but here is the sweet vegetable soup...it is onions, shallots, kabocha squash, carrots, parsnips, burdock, salt, pepper and white miso.

Love to you all — or as @wonkyhipoy says: CHEERS!

@1stSurgery I have missed you this week. Where the heck has your face been?
It has been attached to my neck @lovesstars as is rather customary for me. :heehee: (you set me up for that!)
Problem is my neck has been attached to my body and that has been all over the flippin place so I am on a tiny hiatus here (but look ....I'm actually HERE!) until I get a glob of work finished in next few weeks. And since turning the corner I have deliciously uneventful days that are mostly OK, not much to report.
I'm glad you keep your whip in the trunk but I suggest when going to the OS office from here on you haul it in with you. Ya never know.....

Stay well, take it easy and keep hanging in that warm water. Fish do not get arthritis!

Is that soup a puree @lovesstars? If so that is about the best comfort food you can devise right there! I'm with Alitm, you can almost smell it! And I can give you 100 reasons why I adore shallots. Should craft a shallot sonnet! They are just the sweetest most scrumptious little puppies to add to almost anything. OK now I have to get going.

Hi everyone! People who are farther along than I: When you guys started doing more stuff, did you also find that you were SO MUCH more exhausted?

I can’t believe how tired I am. Yes, I am only on Tylenol and Celebrex until late afternoon when I am just too sore and I take 50 mg Tramadol....but only one. Next week I will go down to ½. (Plan)

But the energy drain!!!!!! I know the bonesmart folks have written about it.
But stilll!
I didn’t expect to have it at this point!

You thoughts???

What's up, buttercup?
:heehee: My best friend used to always answer the phone like that when I called. What a goober!
Energy drain issues....still.
At two months out, oh Yes Ma'am!
Should also remind us what that energy is being drained for.
Ever important Healing.
I don't know about you, but mental stress also wears me out...and we can tend to be a little anxious both pre-op and post op, right?
Things will keep getting better so patience is prescribed in large doses even now.

Hope you have a restful weekend!:roseshwr:

With the help of two hours of ice and ½ tramadol.
