I had bilateral hip surgery in 2010 my suggestion and something that I would have done had I known and the doctor told me great idea maybe I should have been the doctor and I wouldn't put so much stress on my knees coming back from the surgery is above my favorite chair I would have built something out of the ceiling kind of like an Olympic person would use the rope coming down you could hold your hands on to so when I get up I would not have to use only my knees for the first month which really really put too much pressure on them and I could also use it to rehab using just a little pressure with my hips until I gain the strength and didn't have to use those anymore for exercises it would have made a world of difference for me and I wish you the best

Make sure your therapist at the acute rehab hospital is familiar with bilateral hip surgery rehab please when I went in 2010 in Sandwich on Cape Cod they did not have me tethered while teaching me to sit in an elevated toilet seat 1 week post operation well I fell down onto the toilet seat and here it is 6 years later I'm going in on Thursday to have my psoas tendon release which I pulled and have had pain in my left hip for six years because of that incident and shame on me I did not report it because I was in so much pain on both sides of the time so please make sure they have you tethered cuz you'll have very little use of your hips at that point

Hope all has gone to plan, see you at the olympics next then lol. Looking forward to seeing your recovery posts.
