Congrats on the staple removal! That must feel heavenly. :)

The staple removal was great. What's even better is that I get to take a shower for the first time in 2 weeks. Now that's what I'm talking about :D.

I finally had a good night's sleep last night. That was so nice. Switched meds from Nucynta to Tramadol before bed and that worked much better.

I'll try my best not to over do things. My surgeon says walking is the best, just like you guys. I used to love waking before the hip problem and its feels really good to enjoy it again.

G my first shower was at day 3 when I got home from the hospital. I cannot imagine having to wait two weeks! You poor thing! Well it is in the past now. :)

I got to be an expert at sponge baths. Lol. Just had the shower, heaven!!!!!!

Hi guys, had my 4 week check up. It went well. I got cleared to drive and go swimming. So happy about both.

The most important lesson I've learned from here is not to over do it. I struggle with that but I'm learning.

In the beging the op leg did feel longer. That feeling is less and less. Muscles are readjusting to a more correct way of walking.

I still have slight pain in my thigh, especially if I over do it. Icing usually takes care of it. Some lower back pain, again if I try to do too much. Can't wait to get into the pool and bicycle on a noodle. I will try my best not to over do it

Hi Poppet, I did read your articles. They have great info. I've gotten more info here than any where. Thank you for taking the time to do that for us. We appreciate it :)

The pool was wonderful and I managed not to over do it. Nice to let all the muscles lengthen for a little while.

Why thank you G's Mom I am pleased you find them informative, if there is ever a topic you would like an article about, I am more than happy to add it to my list of work :)

Yes, I so remember the sense of being in the pool with my noodle and the wonderful feeling of straightening my legs cycling with my noodle..

Good for you, how did you find the reverse gravity when you were getting out of the pool.. Made me want to get straight back in, lol..

I have the fortune of using an outdoor salt water pool in the summer months. It is part of our gym and attached to a five star hotel.. The facilities are wonderful, little bottles of shampoo, lovely body wash, towels, sauna and the pool is surrounded by tall trees, so it is filtered sunlight (and heat, lol) ... Just the thought makes me want to race off and have a session again :)

Oh gosh the swimming sounds fab .... Except what is a noodle? I'm intrigued.... And cycling on it? Is it what we call a sausage in the uk ... A foam..... Well ... Sausage! Poppet .... Your 5 star pool sounds right up there!

Poppet my legs felt like jelly, but in a good way. I'd like to go to your pool, it sounds amazing :D I've always been a water baby. Being in the pool was what I've been waiting for.

It is a fantastic way to exercise gently.. I love the ocean and we have a beach house and the ocean temps are around 22 degrees Celsius right now.... Can't wait for my next break from work... Sigh!

You probably laugh at our use of the word "noodle", like I laughed at the word "sausage" for the foam pool thingy. I just had my PT measure my leg today and my new hip leg is longer :( I'm not happy about that. But she said my pelvis is more forward on that side and as it evens out it may help the LLD. But I am kind of freaked out about it, I don't want to have a limp on the other side now!:tantrum:

zumzumpammy hi there honey.. It is quite normal for the THR leg to feel longer at the start of recovery, your PT is correct your pelvis has to realign as your frame is probably now straighter.. Don't worry or fret, just give it time grasshopper. x

I had the same experience, it felt odd and I didn't like the feeling but it quickly settled and even though I have a half cm difference, I hardly notice it and for me it will be fixed with my second THR.

zumzumpammy, I felt like I had a Lld in the beginning also. That feeling had lessened greatly as the month has passed. The pt and walking helped a lot for me. My gait is almost even now, except when I'm really tired.

Poppet, I wish I lived near an ocean. I live close to one of the great lakes and Sunday it's going to be in the 20s, but that's Fahrenheit. Brrrrrr
