Hi everyone, day 2. I feel much better. Walked almost 1100 steps. Wonderful to have no bone pain. Did 2 sessions of PT.
The staff here are so good with the patients. Looking forward to going home tomorrow evening or Thursday.

Glad to hear your doing so well , congrats on all the walking and it's so great to have no bone pain anymore .

Like you the staff in the hospital I was in were brilliant and that means so much for recovery and comfort .
Good luck with going home .

Yeah, I get to go home today. I slept very well last night.
The nurses found a good combo for the pain meds. Doing all the PT exercises.

Thank you guys for your support.

anniemg how are you doing? Hope all is going good for you.

Glad to hear it G's Mom. I'm doing fine except I discovered that it was only my sister's pre-op yesterday. Her op isn't till the 31st!

Josephine thank you. I'll be thinking of you sister on the 31st. I just reread my post, I'm glad you understood my reply. The keyboard and I have a failure to communicate. Lol

I learned an important lesson the hardway yesterday. They don't call it the Bonesmart mantra for nothing. Lol. I over did it yesterday and paid for it last night. I'll try to make sure not to do that again.

I feel much better today. More rest between activity. I have no restrictions, able to give myself a sponge bath and
get dressed. Including the dreaded TED hose.

This site has helped so much. All the tips are worth their weight in gold.

anniemg hope all is going well for you.

Glad your feeling better today and the rest has done the trick .
Bone.......Smart it is :) .
I think a lot of us think we can push the boundaries of recovery at times , feeling very good can be bad :heehee: .

Boy you got that right. I scaled things back a little today. Definitely feel better than last night. Tomorrow's PT, it's only 5 minutes from the house.

It's really true what they say...two steps forward one step back...as far as hip replacement recovery.

Hi everyone. Happy day today. I had PT this morning. It went very well. So nice to get out and walk. It felt so good. The therapist is pleased with my progress and so am I. The lack of bone on bone pain had me doing a "tiny" happy dance.:D.

Icing and resting now. Going for little walks later. I will try my best not to over do it.

I have to say the THR is a miracle of modern medicine. So glad I had the anterior approach.

I was only saying to my partner today that it's unbelievable after so many years to be able to walk more than a 100 yards without pain or having the limp I had before definately a miracle in my books as well .

It's great to get out in the fresh air , so glad your happy with your recovery well done .

Hi all, its been a week and a half. Things are going well. Enjoying PT. My therapist said I can use the treadmill at home, I did 2 short sessions. Don't need to use the walker anymore, yeah!
Managing pretty well at home, did some light chores yesterday. The best thing I did pre op was to teach my dog to pick things up off the floor that I had dropped. He loves that job and has been a great help to me. Love that little man

Sounds like you are doing great! I love it about the dog!

G's Mom, I don't have any animals...so I let my husband play pick up!
Keep up the good attitude!

I need one of these at my house---what a great idea and how lucky that you faithful companion enjoys being helpful. Glad you're doing so well. Keep up the good work---but be careful not to over do.

Take care and keep us posted. We care. [Bonesmart.org] Saving a spot for Monday October 21

They say that we rescue the dogs but I think it's the other way around. ;)

The one thing I am having a hard time with is crossing that fine line. I need to be better at figuring out how much is too much before it's too late. It never feels like it's too much until a couple of hours later.

I don't really get tired during the day. I did get procrit shots 2 weeks and 1 week before the surgery and I think that has helped.

Hi all, had the staples removed today. My surgeon was pleased with my progress. I am too, it's hard to believe it's been just 2 weeks. He said I can resume most activities with the exception of pivoting movements. I have to wait until the 4 week mark to go swimming. I'm looking forward to that the most.

Thank you to all the posters. You've made the revovery process much easier with all your tips.

G's Mom! So nice that things are progressing and that most restrictions have been lifted. Just be careful about the overdoing---too much can lead to tendonitis which will make you really really unhappy and really really slow down your recovery. So try hard to increase activity slowly and incrementally.
