Have just taken time to read right through your Thread and looked at the photos .. My God, I can't believe the swelling you have there and you only have slim legs normally by comparison with your left leg.
To be honest, mine don't look much different apart from the fact that the TKR is rounder but I think that's because the left knee is knobbly and lacking some stuffing!
I sincerely hope that you can get an opinion from somebody who knows what can be done.
That junior doctor should be reported for what he remarked about the smoking. The Consultant would have been wise about your history of smoking before operating and if your BP and all the other tests were fine then smoking can't have contributed to this outcome.
What does your GP have to say about it and would he refer you elsewhere for another opinion?

Hi Marilyn, I dont smoke now so they cant blame that. I think i have 'accepted' too much and now need to stand my ground. My gp is going to refer me but asked me to see consultant first. Went back and he said oh its fine come back in 6 weeks. Back tomorrow and then going to sort out a second opinion. Its been a horrible time. X

Cherub - so sorry that doctor spoke to you like that. That doctor should be reprimanded for talking to you like that. No matter what You obviously have a problem with your knee. Now it just needs to be addressed. Do not let anyone put you off till you get some answers. I would push for a revision specialist if you have a choice. Keep us updated we care!

Well been back to see surgeon who agrees its swollen more than he would expect. The knee might not have bedded in yet. I said about the new pain and the worsening swelling and he said he doesn't know. Come back and see him in 6 weeks! Took some bloods thats it.

'Bedded in'!? Never heard that before. Surely it's in place during the op?

Never heard it myself. Got an appointment with my gp on 21st to pursue second opinion.

Yes, your knee does look swollen. One thing that is important to understand from your physical exam is whether this swelling is 1) normal "soft tissue" swelling that typically occurs after knee replacement (and can last many months), or if this is 2) an "effusion" which is a fluid accumulation inside of the joint. These two scenarios are typically treated differently (or at least observed differently). The only way to determined this is with a good physical exam.

@Orthodoc what would be considered a good exam. He asked me to straighten my knee whilst sitting on a chair and then to push the back of my knee into his hand. That was it. The rest was visual.

i go to my gp on friday. Almost 5 months and pain ect no change. I am convinced this is not right.

These are todays pictures.very little swelling. Just a big knee that looks/feels far to big for me. When i try to advance my rom the bottom of my knee hurts a lot. I am in pain walking and have varying pain front/back/top/bottom. I just hope that someone will listen.

Still the same. My gp suggested i wait a year and that its unlikely any other surgeon will want to touch it. :-(

It may be worth getting your records together: surgical reports, PT reports, X-rays, etc so that you're ready when you decide to get a second opinion.

10 days I will be 1 year post op TKR. I have had ongoing pain and swelling. Back to OS and they are still checking for infection. Past 2 checks have been clear. Examining the knee it is thought that my kneecap may need resurfacing or scar tissue is impinged in the joint. Possibly both. I cant find my original thread.

Anyone tell me what is involved surgically for these?
Couldn't be xrayed due to strike action so have to wait 2 weeks. Thank you
