TKR Ready Set Go!

I'm heading into my 8th week post op and feel great! :) I was released from Physical Therapy on my 6 week post op anniversary. :yay: They sent me off into the wild blue yonder with words of, "continue to do your stretches," and, "keep exercising that knee." Which I have done, though perhaps not quite as much stretching. I ride my bike and go swimming just about everyday (it helps that I have little ones that are constantly begging me to go). I've also mixed up my old workout routine so that I alternate days between the ground "pilates" and weight training. I've incorporated my PT's regimen for the leg exorcises into my pilates day.

Last weekend we went camping. We hiked and biked and explored. Then something occured to me...I wasn't hurting. No, I still have some twinges now and then; but that evil enslaving pain simply was not there. :yes!:

I am also off my pain meds. I started coming down a while ago and now I only have them for those just in case moments. My last pain pill was four days ago.

My sister and brother-in-law are in town so we're busy showing them all the sites. I love being able to walk around and look at the stuff without worrying that I've been on my feet too long; or being scared that we might have parked a bit too far away. Today we are off to visit a really old WWII fort; it's an old fortrous full of darkened tunnels and bunkers. It's going to be a blast. :heehee:

This is it! I'm a few hours post op and high as a kite. I wanted to post this to get this started and to let everyone know that it went GREAT!! I can barely feel my legs. My right leg, which is the good one, is steadily getting feeling back and now it just feels like I've sat in the loo too long. My left leg moves but feels extremely numb because they have a block on it that it connected directly the the main femoral nerve. They also have compression stockings on my legs which feel quite odd but not uncomfortable. I'm a bit cold; but the nurses are so nice. They get warmed up blankets and put them under my top blanket. It's quite nice.

I'm actually starting to feel like I'd really like to get up; but there is absolutely no way that could happen yet. :rolleyespink:

So this is it, day number 1, on the other side. :yahoo:
Yay, you have started the journey. I hope they take excellent care of you and you progress well.
