THR Post surgery

What are your symptoms?

Possibly you're simply overtired from the surgery and the anxiety you dealt with leading up to yesterday. Hopefully a good nights sleep will have you feeling better in the morning. Sleep can be hard to come by for some, but not all, so with any luck you'll get some restorative rest overnight. :fingersx:
Make sure you stay adequately hydrated. Drinking water will help flush out the medication and anesthesia from your surgery. Drinking water post-surgery can be very helpful in all aspects of recovery.

Mucus my throat and chest hurt and my head feels hot but when I take my temp it’s ok and I feel weak

Lots of fluids - some should be broths or juices to provide electolytes and nutrition as well as liquid.

Did you have inhaled anesthesia via a mask? If so do deep breathing, just a few deep breaths every couple of hours, to clear residual out. Focus in making your inhalation as deep as you can.

Is Acetaminophen part of your pain regimen? There's likely some in your prescription pain med, they usual add acetaminophen to them.
You can add more over the counter acetaminophen as long as you don't take more than 4,000 mg in 24 hours. If you feel unfocused ( as we do for several days or more) your wife can do the math.

It's possible you are coming down with a cold, or you're just exhausted as Layla suggested.

Please don't fixate on every new thing you notice. We are resilient creatures. You will be fine.

Feeling weak is normal, you lose a lot of blood during surgery. Did you have general anesthesia? If so they insert breathing tube down your throat & can make your throat sore for couple days after.
Of course just being in a hospital you can pick up something as well but if your meds (like Tylenol), which contains acetaminophen would bring a temp down if you did have one.
Lots of fluids as already recommended & rest, your body has been through a lot!
Keep us posted.

i did have a tube down my throat

Intubation can cause a sore throat and hoarseness temporarily.

After surgery, we often attempt to remove any weight off the operated leg (favoring) and this change in gait can cause discomfort, but as your body is in healing mode, the soft tissue and prosthetic are settling in and adjusting to work smoothly together. You are going to experience many odd sensations, aches, discomfort and pain. It is all part of the healing process. By the time you adjust to one pain or weird sensation, it often dissipates and is replaced by another. Buckle up, it's a journey, but a brighter future awaits you.

@Layla yea I figured I would have pain and weird stuff in the bad leg but not the good

You will feel discomfort because your gait changed as your hip deteriorated and it will change again now as your body is adjusting to the prosthetic. My surgeons PA explained this to me on one of my first post op visits.

My incision spot is hurting bad is that normal it just started

Yes. They just cut through your flesh to expose your bone, naturally it will hurt. This is where Icing and elevation come in, in addition to prescribed meds. Make sure to always cover bare skin with fabric while icing.

You can expect to have pain in your knee, your thigh, the inner and outer sides of your leg,and possibly your shin and your other leg.

Eventually as you're walking more, due to the way your structure was altered all at once in the OR, you might encounter hip, buttock, low back pain, or sciatica. These are all within normal and generally respond to home treatment.

Are you taking pain meds as ordered?
Are you icing and elevating "toes above nose" for 45 - 60 minutes at a time?

My knee hurt worse than my hip after surgery! You will have different aches & pains for awhile.

@ajhines19 My best advice at this stage is try to relax. You have just been through major trauma. It is not unusual for everything to hurt. Ice and elevate per the instruction Layla left you. Take your pain medication around the clock as prescribed. These early days can be a challenge. Better days are coming!

It’s going pretty good I feel like my pots is way worse than the leg
