I do think the weather still affects us some. Yesterday we had rain, and I was achey all over. I have two daughters in Iowa and one in Alaska. The one in Alaska is flying into Iowa today and one of my Iowa daughters is driving a few hours to her Dad's house tomorrow. I sure hope this storm doesn't affect them too much. Hugs!

Depends on what part of the state. I'm across the river from Omaha and we are supposed to get up to 8", they are classifying it as a winter storm, but Des Moines is supposed to get more, they are in a blizzard warning. Safe travels to your daughters!!! I'm anxious for the snow, I love it!!!

I just came in from outside and without thinking stomped my feet to get rid of the snow. It didn't hurt! It felt normal! I had to do it again to make sure that I didn't feel what I thought I didn't feel :happydance:

"Normal" sneaks up on us in silly little ways that pump us up and make us happy inside. Congrats on another "little" milestone passed on Recovery Road.

It's weird how the knee can hurt, but stomping the foot didn't hurt. I'm not sure that makes any sense, but it's just weird to me.

[Bonesmart.org] Partial knee 10 October 2012 Keep in mind that it is not the knee that hurts---its metal & plastic and has no feeling---but the tissue, muscles, etc. around it that are giving you grief. Apparently foot stomping does not bother those tissues, muscles, etc.---

Saw the doc on 12/27 and all was well, he sent me on my way and said he'd see me in a year. I asked him about my inability to fully straighten my leg, and he said that it will come in time. I didn't ask him, and I probably should have, but how do you know if you have a scar tissue issue with the new knee?
On a side note, it's a little depressing when talking to people about my knee and they say "oh, only a partial" like I should be back to normal within a couple of weeks. I have a friend who still swears that I got a botched surgery because I'm still not able to go for brisk walks through the hills with her....but she won't watch the video from youtube of a knee surgery either...lol

So glad you can stomp your feet now :), I have trouble wiping my feet on the doormat when I come in, so I should get there sometime in the future :), I love hearing all these little things that mean so much when in our position :).

I was thinking, probably not very brightly mind you, that if I can stomp my feet, then I can get back on the motorcycle! Good thing it's way too cold to even think about it...lol. I did start it up and sit on it yesterday though :happydance:

Now that must have been a good feeling, well done you! :)

Just venting....2 years ago I met a gal and we had become pretty good friends, exchanging e-mails periodically during the work day, going on walks during lunches, etc. I have been avoiding her since my surgery because every single time she asks about my knee, she replies with "you should be healing much faster than you are". Every. Single. Time.
Today she asked me if I thought I should go get a second opinion because her husbands 80 year old aunt was up walking around fine one month later. I didn't reply, I just deleted the e-mail.
I don't care what she says or thinks, at 12 weeks, I am doing just fine!!! Yes, if I over do it I still get stiff and sore. I went to a surgeon, not a magician!! :groan:

I understand about friends thinking you should be able to do more and be as good as new withing a couple weeks.
They have no idea what we have been through. If they would try to understand, it would make things better. I've had friends like this and it just shows us who our true friends are.
Keep us updated on your progress. Tomorrow, it will be four weeks since my LPKR. I know it's doing well but, like you, I don't want to push it too much.
And I love your statement about going to a surgeon, not a magician!! :yes!:

So true, it does seem slow progress to us let alone friends, but we all want to heal properly with no complications by overdoing it. You keep on the way your going and make the progress at your knee speed, that's the way to go. I was actually saying to my husband a couple of days ago, I for one did not realise how long it was going to take to get over the TKR, other people do not realise what we are all going through and it is down to exercise patience and time.

:sigh: I overdid it this morning, I did a bit of dusting and hoovering then made a big pot of bolognaise sauce for the freezer, just too much standing and now I am paying for it :sigh: . Now sitting down and not moving for a couple of hours :).

Sitting and not doing anything for a couple of hours sounds like a marvellous thing to do!!!

:rotfl: a co-worker and I were talking about my new scar and the old scar and I was thinking, one more strategically placed scar and I could have a peace sign on my knee. I crack me up sometimes :tada:

What luck! I made an appointment at the gym to meet with a personal trainer (I get 2 free sessions for rejoining) and her mom had knee replacement last March! She stayed with her mom the first month after surgery, so she should understand! I'm so much less apprehensive about going now! :happydance:

Well done, it must be so nice to know you have someone with you who knows what you are going through, well done.

BTW, you cracked me up as well :) .
