Bilateral PKR Pain After 1 Year

So I'm now 14 weeks post surgery and still battling stiff knees on both sides and pain still in one knee. Shouldn't I be bouncing back by now? Is it possible they're so stiff and painful because I'm NOT doing any physical therapy?

You are getting up and doing things during the day, aren't you? Could you be doing too much? We all had stiffness for quite a while. Even if you don't see swelling on the outside, the inside is still swollen. That's a small ares in there and even just a little bit of fluid will cause stiffness. Continue to ice and elevate and don't over-stress your knees. That will cause even more swelling.

Thank you. I'll try to continue to be patient.
Im sure we are all impatient!
My PT told me the other day " on your way out you should buy a little bag of patience!"
But by the time my session was over i suggested that i actually needed a big bag!!!:heehee:
Also he said that when im just sitting around I should use some heat on my legs to get some blood circulating to help my heeling.:fingersx:
Make sure you take your meds...no prizes for bravery!

Hello all! It's been a while since I've been on here. Hope everyone is doing well. August 20 will be one year since my BTKR and my knees have been feeling wonderful. Then last week my right started to hurt again and has hurt ever since. Had this happened to anyone else?

Hello again, @halesgirl ,
I'm sorry you're having a problem now. Have you done anything recently that might have upset your right knee, or did this start spontaneously?

Have you tried resting and icing that knee? If that brings no improvement after a few days, it might be a good idea to see your surgeon again.

You'll notice that I have merged your newest thread with your original recovery thread.
For several reasons, we prefer that you only have one recovery thread:
  • That way, we have all your information in one place. This makes it easier to go back and review your history before providing advice.
  • If you keep starting new threads, you miss the posts and advice others have left for you in the old threads, and some information may be unnecessarily repeated
  • Having only one thread will act as a diary of your progress that you can look back on.
So please post any updates, questions or concerns about your recovery here.
Don't worry that we won't see your question because, between us, the staff read all new posts every day.
If you need an urgent response to a question, just tag a member of staff.
How to tag another member; how to answer when someone tags you

If you prefer a different thread title, just post what you want and we'll get it changed for you.

Here are the instructions on finding your thread, How can I find my threads and posts? . Many members bookmark their thread, so they can find it when they log on.

Thanks very much! I couldn't find my original thread.

I don't recall doing anything to set it off. They've been feeling so great I haven't even been paying attention to them. It was the new pain that got my attention. I will definitely be calling the surgeon if it continues for any length of time. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Even after over 3 years out, my tkr can start hurting for a day or two. It's seldom I can pin down what I did. It could even be movements during sleep.
