@Kim22
Any news on proceeding with your surgery? If it were to be postponed, is there a long wait time to reschedule surgery? Another member (Deepbreath) also had to reschedule and the wait was only 5 days. However, I'm not sure how it works in the UK. With all these prayers being sent up for you, you may be just fine to proceed. This must be so nerve wracking for you @Kim22! :-(

@Cynthia777 , I think DeepBreath had a shorter wait time because the Dr is the one who had to cancel. If @Kim22 does the canceling, even though it is for sickness, then she's stuck with a longer wait time :( I only know this because I already asked her about this scenario.
But of course I probably have it wrong. I will continue to blame my fog on the narcotics. heh heh heh

My thoughts and prayers are with you @Kim222. Hope you are feeling better and your surgery is still on as scheduled.

Thank you all for your kindness and information. Well I have a little bit of good news as the sore throat seems to be easing a little.I believe that part of my current problem is that I have gastric reflux (thanks for the article @Cynthia777 ) which seems to be more of a problem this week and is aggravating the throat.I have increased the dosage of you Omeprazole and I am hoping this will improve things further. The swab result wasn't back from the lab by the end of Friday so I am still none the wiser. The NP told me that she was 99.9% certain that it was viral in origin and not bacterial and because of this and the fact that I have not had a fever I am hoping and praying that all will be well for Monday morning for the surgery.I seem to avoided hubby's cold but of course there is still time for me to go down with it.
Actually I was In the same boat with my first hip but then it was a cold which hung on right up until the evening before surgery.I had so many friends from church praying for me which was a great comfort as are your prayers on this occasion.I am sure stress is the main reason that this sore throat is taking so long to heal and for an increase in the reflux.
If the surgery is cancelled they will try to fit me in as soon as possible but it depends on how busy my OS is.I know this as I was due to have a cortisone injection on 12th Feb but I cancelled due to a chest infection.I was told to ring as soon as I was recovered and I was given a date within a couple of weeks I ended up having it on the 26th March but as I have explained to @CricketHip there is no obligation on the NHS to adhere to a timescale as the cancellation is for a patient reason rather than a problem in the hospital. So I would be so grateful to you all if you could continue to hold me in your prayers.

Lifting you in prayers @ Kim22. And won't stop them anytime soon. so glad that you are feeling a wee bit of improvement.

I just signed on to see if you had updated, and you did! Reflux sounds about right, as you mentioned it was your only symptom and it has hung around on and off for a couple of weeks. I have had strange symptoms from reflux in the past as well (laryngitis)....So; we are all agreeing and praying for Monday... \0/ PS Hi Cricket! So happy to see you are on the mend :))

@Bfam85 Thank you for your reassurance regarding reflux.I have been taking Omeprazole 20mg daily for about 4 years and in all that time I have never had a problem with it but maybe I am just getting used to it.I was taking NSAIDs for years without any problems but I don't take them any more so I think stress has played its part.

Oh @Kim22 I just popped in to wish you well for Monday & find you've a problem with your throat ( it's uncanny as I'm encountering this at the moment & am sure it's reflux). I'm sending all good wishes & love your way & hope that you can go ahead on Monday....it's sounds very much stress related. Thinking of you...Chrissie xxxx

@Hoppy Nanny Hi Chrissie thank you so much for calling in to wish me well.I am now convinced that stress related reflux is at the heart of my problem and I am trying to think positive thoughts regarding Monday I have been so uplifted by all the wonderful support that I have received from the good people on Bone-smart.

You deserve all the support @Kim22
Could you try some gaviscon as well as the omeprazole...might knock it on the head & easily obtainable? X

I have been taking Rennies because I prefer them to Gaviscon and I had some in but I will buy some Gaviscon tomorrow and give them a go.Thanks Chrissie

God is good @Kim22, yes God is good!!!!!!! I'm so happy your throat is healing just in time for your surgery!

Just so ya know, you're on my prayer list (and I'll bet on other members lists as well) and I will continue sending those prayers throughout your journey. :-)

@Kim22, sending out continued prayers for your sore throat to disappear soon. That must be stressful for you.
I'm sorry you're having to deal with that.
My GERD went crazy that last week before surgery. I actually wondered at one point if I had some bronchial issue. GP said I was all clear though.
*Hugs*

@DeepBreath thank you for your reassurance regarding the reflux.I had no idea that you had gone through a similar situation to me.
