TKR One year since TKR

Well a little over 10 weeks since surgery and I am doing well. Very little pain unless I make a miss step and tweak it then it hurts for a while. I will finish up my therapy Monday the 18th and hopefully be on my way to enjoying my new knee. It hasn’t been all roses but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the update, Razorback. Glad to read you're doing well as therapy is winding down.
You're on your way! :walking:

Thanks Layla. I go back for my 3 month visit tomorrow. Everything is still going well. I am hoping the surgeon thanks the same. I should be returning to work next week if they release me tomorrow. I can’t complain about the knee. It is working great and I have learned what I can and can’t do without causing pain.

You know, as you are happy is what counts. You have to please you, not your doctor!

Fantastic! You are doing so well for only 3 months!

Hi Razorback,
I hope you had a good visit with your OS today and he feels you're ready to go back to work next week.
It sounds like you're making great progress. Thanks for posting an update. It's nice to know you're doing well.
Have a nice end to the week!

Well it has been almost five months since my surgery and I am doing great. I have no swelling or pain. I can tell when the weather is going to change because I get a little sore but nothing to complain about. I returned to work a couple of weeks ago and have no issues with being on my feet half the day and I am just happy the surgery was a success.

How wonderful, Razorback!
Thanks for stopping by to share all of the great news.

Odd, isn't it? The ability to know the weather is going to change because you get a little sore. It's especially true for patients with arthritic joints who have not had a joint replacement, but also the case even after you have a new prosthetic in place.

Weather changes are predicted by changes in barometric pressure, which is the weight of the air pressing against the earth's surface. These changes can trigger pain and stiffness in the area of the prosthesis. The activity of bone adapting and growing around the metal leads to the sensitivity felt during weather and pressure changes. These sensations normally disappear within one to two years following surgery.

It's good to read you're back to work with no issues. You're on your way! :walking:

It's good to hear you are doing well! Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Razorback,
Sounds like you're doing pretty well. Hopefully over the next several months any residual pain abates and you're golden by Summer! Thanks for the update...don't be a stranger here. :)

I am 8 months out since surgery and my knee is doing great. I just wish the rest of me was the same. I was diagnosed with Nueroendocrine cancer last month and will have to deal with that for a while. Hopefully the doctors can take it out and the recovery will go as good as the knee has.

I'm praying for your complete healing from that cancer. It's good to hear that your knee is doing great!

Aww, I am so sorry. Prayers for a complete return to health. :prayer:
Thankfully your TKR recovery is going well, one less thing to deal with.

Thanks for coming back to give that one year update.

That pain may very well improve over the next year. After a tough first year I had a lot of improvement in my second year.
