Oh dear, you poor thing! I do know that the most common fusion in an ankle is the triple arthrodesis. It fuses together the three main bones in the hind foot which joints are most commonly affected.

Josephine The cortisone shot seems to help. Other than the side effect of a headache (which I always get from these) I feel pretty good! Walking predominately without the cane....finally!! Had a great PT session today because my ankle didn't hurt...and my knees were not too bad either. I think I'm finally seeing some light at the end of THIS tunnel. We will see what next can be done over the summer at my next appointment, at the end of April.

Right now...I'll take the good feelings that I am having. I am a happy camper!

Josephine Last night, I dropped something on the floor, for the first time in years, I went down on all fours to retrieve it. Now, I am having some discomfort. Some in the femur, and some in the hip. Do you think I just pulled something? Should I worry?

Not at all! I think you just did some inadvertent muscles stretches! All will be well in a couple of days.

9 weeks post op! Each day is getting better! I'm pretty much walking without my cane! This is something I never thought I would do! Today, I put on my sock without the use of the sock tool! This is the first time I have done this in years! I'm going back to work on Monday! I can't wait to be around people other than my family!

Another milestone Mbone, putting socks on, and good luck for Monday and going back to work... Let us know how you go :)

Good luck as you return to school on Monday. It will be a special (and exhausting) day. I am missing my students and look forward to getting back. I am 4 weeks post TKR, so I will be off a few more weeks.

Happy Easter.

Ready I have been home about 10 weeks. Although I am nor a classroom teacher, I do go into the rooms quite a bit and I miss the kids! I'm ow I will be exhausted!!! Have you joined us in the social room on the calling all teacher thread! There are so many teachers here! Did you have posterior or anterior hip replacement!

Today was my first day back to work'! The kids and my co workers were happy to see me! People were amazed at how well I was walking! I only used my cane for lunch duty and recess otherwise it stayed in my room! I went up and down the stairs several times... Like a normal person! I walked all over the place! The best part is that people kept on saying I looked different! My face looked different! I guess it is the face of a PAIN FREE face!!!! VERY GOOD DAY, I LOVE MY HIP!!

Awww I want to go back to work! I didn't realise just how much I would miss my kiddies! (I work in a behavioural school with kiddies with autism) I hope to pop in for a quick visit next friday (last day of term before the holidays) and then hopefully back to work by maybe week 3 of next term. Glad you had a fabulous first day back.

Glad you had a good day back. Bet you slept well!

Allycat It was so nice to see the kids and my co teachers! The kids said" it's about time!" and " You walk better," and "How is your hip?" They are so funny!!! I got a welcome back cake from the administrative team which they gave me at our meeting! It is amazing how I zip around the building!!! On,use my cane for recess and lunch duty! It's so nice to see people other than my family!!!!
Ready unfortunately I did not sleep well...in fact I only slept for about two hours! I am a bad sleeper to begin with and my mind races with thinking about everything I have to do, or did, or might do, etc!!! Any tips on how to control the thinking at bed time?
clifford149 Yes another accomplishment!!!! Every day is so much better!

You need your sleep! So sorry it eluded you. Hope tonight is better. I usually sleep very well, which I am so thankful for. A cup of Yogi's Bedtime Tea every night with a good book. Anything you didn't get done will be there for you tomorrow, and most likely you will be the only one who noticed it not done. Sweet dreams.

Mbone Congratulations on a successful first day back at work.A real big milestone in your recovery. I am only 2 weeks post surgery and have a long way to go.I have just read your thread right the way through and you have certainly come a long way on your recovery journey. It is comforting to read reports of Bonesmarties who are ahead especially when they have gone through the same problems that I am having now.Good luck with the next part of your journey and enjoy planning your daughters wedding.

Kim22 It does get better! Much better! At one point you might feel like there is no improvement... but there is!!! There is a whole lot of healing going on! Believe me, hang in there because it does get better! You will ask yourself why you waited so long! You will LOVE your new hip!
