[Bonesmart.org] Newbie here!!!
@lourees, you might remind them that until they've walked a mile with your hips, they really don't know what they're talking about. Sometimes the people we most think we should be able to count on to understand just "DON'T GET IT!" You do whatever makes life easier for you.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

I say just give 'em a good whack with one of your crutches, smile sweetly and say, "Oh, I'm so sorry.....now what were you saying about my crutches?" :rotfl: Okay....okay....so I'm not always the Queen of Tact.

This is YOUR recovery and you need to do what's best for you. As long as you need the support of a walking aid to move about without limping, then you need the crutches (cane, walker or whatever gets the job done). When they get their medical degree, then maybe your family can offer advice. Hubby's right....ignore them.

Absolutely, I'm with Jamie on this.. If your children are young what you could ask them to do is to paint your crutches for you, let them personalize them.. They may actually be a wee bit scared and doing a fun activity like that might make them feel more comfortable and involved. A couple of colleagues of mine, had a go at my first cane and then when I had to use the walker pre surgery, they decorated it one day... :)

Good News!!!

:dancy::dancy::dancy::dancy: Yay!! i phoned the hospital today to enquire if they did a list to go on for if any cancellation appointments came up, but they don't have one. But!! she looked on there system and a cancellation had come up and there is an appointment avaiable for the end of january, so i am now going to see mr biring for the first time this month instead of waiting till april to see him, excited but nervous!!!, which is good really as the last few days have been bad days :sad::sad: for me the kids went back to school, and i don't drive so the days gone by i have really suffered with very sore hips too the point that the pain made me feel quite sick:groan::groan:

Great news! I'm amazed how long you have to wait for an appointment and for surgery - hope it all goes quickly now!

@charmed-life

thank you, yeh i originally had to wait till the 3rd april just to see mr biring (ortheopedic surgeon) for the first time, i'm soo happy that i am now seeing him at the end of january, but nervous now in what he is going to say x

Wonderful news!!! Be sure and let us know how things go. In the meantime, try to keep the pain at bay by resting, icing, elevating and taking some type of pain medication.

Oh my goodness, that's so exciting. Great news! And it sounds like good timing, you are in a lot of pain and it can be no fun trying to look after littlies in such pain. It was hard enough for me to look after myself, let alone children & a husband as well. Do keep in touch and let us know how you are doing, and of course about your appointment.

I am so happy for you!! Maybe you can get a surgery date too while you are there. Judy

ohhh getting excited now only today to go, then i see the ortheopedic surgeon for the first time tomorrow morning eekkk!!!!!

:):):):):)

well i went to see mr biring for the first time yesterday, and i must say he was very polite and understanding. He has requested i go for a MRI scan and to see him within 3 weeks of having the scan. He thinks i have a labral tear in my right hip, but needs the mri to confirm whats going on, then it will proberly be key hole surgery next, but he will discuss this when i next see him. His words were that he can see clearly i am in alot of pain and not to worry he will sort it out.

after being examined by him though i was in alot of pain last night :sad::sad: and couldn't get confortable at all. on a plus sign i have applied for a blue badge now too!!!

Great news @lourees , at last you are on your way. And to see him again so soon is good, hopefully things will keep moving at this pace for you. :) When do you have your scan?

@octopus

i don't know when my scan is going to be, i just have to wait for a letter to come in the post x

@lourees...........I am sorry you are in so much pain...I hope he gives you an early surgery date, wouldn't that be wonderful :). April can't come fast enough for me. These cold New England temps we've been having is pretty tough on my hip. I have been keeping low and not doing so much to aggravate it. Just gathering things slowly to help easy the recovery process at home. I wish you the best news and an early date :)
