lourees, How are you doing these days? Hope all is going well with your recovery!!!

@lourees, :angel: Wait........I'm a little confused lol Did you have the THR yet???

I will tag lourees to see how she went with her appointment on 20 Nov... Curious minds are enquiring :)

hi everyone

sorry i haven't been on for a while as my laptop packed up.

i have been to see my new gp who is very kind and very understanding in what needs to be done and my rhmy consultant since i was last on here and my rhmy consultant is now refeering me to see an otheopedic surgeon as she thinks it is more machanical than osteoarthritis

i went to physio today and they told me because it was hurting when i walk etc is not to do so much walking around, thats kinda hard in my eyes as i have 3 children and also i don't drive

[Bonesmart.org] Newbie here!!!
lourees. Great to hear that you are getting a referral to an ortho doc. As for not walking---just about impossible for someone in your situation. Just try to find ways to do as many things as you can sitting down and rest as often as you can.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

Hey! sandpiper ! lourees is back!

Hi lourees I'm so pleased your new GP is lovely! And it's great you now have a referral to a surgeon. You are on your way to getting this sorted, and to living a pain free life! Did you get a crutch to use? This would help with the pain when moving about, I used it as my form of pain management and hardly ever took any pain medication.

Let us know how things go with the surgeon. :)

hi thank you, yeh defo on the right route now at last, just need that appointment to come through now to see a surgeon, fingers crossed that doesn't take long to come through.

i did i brought some ossenburg crutches and also brought the flexy foot to go on them, i am yet to use them, but i think i just need to swallow my pride and bite the bullet and start using them now and try and get on with stuff and try and have fun with the kids and my family, as best as i can.

Hi Louise, give it a go at home to start with. Hopefully you will find it helps and will feel confident to go out and about. Is it only one hip affected? If so you will probably find one crutch is ok, used on the good side. Let me know how you get on. :)

hi thats a good idea i never thought about trying it at home first, shall defo give it ago.:)

it's both hips that are affected, but it's my right hip that is the worst and gives me more pain and agro than the left one xx:boohoo::boohoo:

lourees, we do request here on the forum that you refrain from using abbreviations frequently used for texting. Please just take the time to just spell it out. Believe or not, some of us do not text and figuring out what is being said can be difficult---along with the typos most of us manage to put in a post.
Thanks for your cooperation.

@louees Hi !!!! I hope all is getting better with you my friend! We are here for you!!:friends:

@sandpiper

hi i am doing ok, i have been to see physio and was given some exercises to do, but that has seemed to made my hips worse, on the bright side i have been referred to see a mr biring a orthopedic consultant at my local hospital, so i am now just waiting for an appointment to come through now. :):):)

I have been experiancing very stiff and sore hips at the moment, i find that they are worse after sitting for a period of time. i think after chhristmas i am going to wave the flag and give in and start useing my crutches, and try and spend more time with my family as i have started to notice the dissapointment more in my kids faces when i say i can't do certain things with them.

Iwould like to wish every one on here a very happy christmas and a happy new year xx

@sandpiper thanks for your holiday wishes, I hope you have a very good one too. I'm doing well and am thankful to be able to walk pain free, after 9 and a half months it still amazes me. I still have issues with my gluteus muscle, and the muscles in my entire back are sore as they protest at me walking properly after so many years! I'm told they will settle eventually, can't wait! But on the whole I'm recovering well. I'll pop over to your thread and see how you are doing. Best wishes :)

@lourees you sound like you are doing well in yourself. It helps to be on the way towards treatment. Sorry to hear you are having extra stiffness and soreness at the moment. I know doing exercises pre surgery is no fun, but it's worth doing the ones that aren't too painful. The object I understand is to keep movement in the joint, because as things get more painful, we move less and less. One exercise I didn't find too bad was gently swinging the leg backwards & forwards, or in circles, but what is tolerable is different for all of us. I hope you don't have to wait too long for an appointment with your surgeon. I'm pleased you are going to give the crutches a go, they will really help. :) Wishing you a lovely Christmas.

morning everyone

hope you are all doing well, i now have a date to see mr birring at stoke mandeville hospital, which is on the 3rd april, YAY!!! :dancy::dancy::dancy:

Awesome, good news for the new year! I hope things move quickly for you after that. How are the crutches going?

@octopus

thank you, yeah they are going good, although i haven't ventured out of the house yet and feel abit embarrassed and stupid as i know i will get asked loads of questions by friends and family and they will only just come out and say you don't need them don't be so stupid!!!, so i am kinda holding fire in taking them out, hubby seems to think i should and just ignore what they say xx

Wow, I'm sorry to hear your family and friends don't understand. That's rough. I'm guessing if you are needing crutches you must be limping quite badly, do they not ask why? I agree with your husband, either just ignore them or work out a couple of one liners you can use to silence them. You are not the stupid one here. This is your body and you need to do what is best for it. Limping puts a lot of stress on your whole body and using the crutches will help ease that, just get some exercises to do for your shoulders. Has using them helped your pain levels? Do let me know how you get on. Best wishes.
