Additionally, I have read that the Accolade 2 is a new blend of metals that is not supposed to cause fretting. I have also learned that while only specific lots of the Accolade TMZFs were recalled, some patients are having problems with fretting from necks outside of the recall. I am assuming that is why Stryker stopped producing the Accolade TMZF and switched to the Accolade 2 with it's new blend of metals. @Jaycey , my surgeon informed me that assuming I have no issues and I go the full life of my implant (15 - 20 yrs), my next replacement should not require removal of stem, but rather only the ball and cup. Is that typical? Also said that if neck trunnion was only slightly worn that they can resurface and install new ball & cup.
