TKR My RTKR Done: I Kneed You Now

it's a bit of a walk to the area in the hospital.
You can always request a wheelchair if it’s too far.
Recovery is a marathon and not a sprint.
The first two weeks are simply about resting, icing, elevation and moving about frequently in between. The rest will come in time, and there really is no rush.

Yay...one week down! I remember that as the first milestone I wanted to reach. Happy One Week Anniversary!

As far as the bed heel slides go, you can try using a plastic back underneath your foot to reduce the friction and go slowly to make the heel slides easier.

I was anxious to use the cane and ditch the walker myself. I practiced 10-11 days in and overdid it, so you're definitely wise to go slow. In my excitement to toss the walker to the curb, I walked circles around my home that first day and landed in the ODIC. The next day was pretty much icing / recliner all day. After that I went s-l-o-w with the cane.

If the trek to your destination in the hospital is a long one, please don't hesitate to request a wheelchair escort if you think walking will lead to pain afterward from overactivity.
I'm channeling my inner Sesame Street and naming my new knee 'Bert' and the next one will be 'Ernie'. My wife says she's channeling her inner psychiatric nurse and will be looking for an asylum to have me committed!
:heehee: Cute... I love it!

You're doing great and as the swelling subsides and the pain eases, your mobility and flexibility will improve. Wishing you a good week! Thanks for the update, it was nice hearing from you.
