I find your posts encouraging. Thanks for posting your progress.
Have a good camping trip!!
I am 2 weeks post-op today, and am looking forward to walking with a cane soon :yes!:
Hope you are doing well with your recovery. It was a little tough the first few weeks for me, but got noticeably better each week.

Update June 21: 8 weeks post-up LH THR. Feel about 80-90%. Discomfort only on side when getting up, made the mistake of telling PT and started me on exercises getting up and down from different heights to mimic different heights of chairs. Ha Ha. Saw the doctor and scheduled a steroid injection on the left hip this week to hopefully quiet it down until I get to surgery in August. Building up muscle strength for longer walks.

Please don’t do this if it hurts. Consider saying No.
I‘m sorry you’re dealing with pain from your left hip as your right is healing. That puts a bit of a damper on recovery. Hopefully the injection works well and buys you more time until your August date. Wishing you lots of comfort.

Update June 28: 9 weeks post-up LH THR. closer to 90%, there I think. walking pretty good, use cane when it is long distance or tired. Just need to keep strengthening the muscles. I will have last PT session in 2 days, the off camping for a couple of weeks. I did get an injection in the left hip last week. It did relieve pain for about 3 days and I could move the leg better, but ache is returning, so it might not last as long as I had hoped. Looking forward to end of August to have the left hip replaced and get back to bowling around October/November time frame.

Update July 19: 12 weeks post-op. Hi, Back from 2 weeks camping. Overall did OK. I over-did walking one day and paid for it the next few days. Sitting in low chairs and getting up is not my friend yet. Only pain in surgical hip is a muscle or IT band half way down side of leg. Guess I need more healing there. Otherwise very happy with results. Looking forward to getting left hip replacement on 8/30

@Slamjamm Well done on all the camping activity. Twelve weeks is still early days from a process that can take one year or longer.

You are going to be so happy when you join the double hippy club! No more hip pain!

Yay! Sounds great, yes, those low chairs are a real struggle, my couch is low and soft upstairs and I've just started to feel comfortable getting on and off it.
During day if I need a chill pill I use downstairs couch which is much easier to navigate.
Prior to having this accident/surgery our plan was to switch couches and still want to do that, just need some man power over here!!!

Happy Three Months to Righty!
Only a little over a month to go before your next THR. I hope you’re not in too much pain, or managing it well. You should be feeling pretty good by the holidays :banana-santa:
Something to look forward to. Hang in there…wishes for your comfort.

One week out for THR for the right hip. still having an ache in the right leg about half way down the side after walking or getting up from a low chair. . Talked to doctor and he is not concerned. said muscles and tendons still healing and it may be 6 months to a year until feeling totally normal. I am alright with that. Right now it is hard to exercise where both legs are involved, be cause the left hip will act up. So ready to get Left Hip done.

Bummer!!! We had storms come through Monday night with power outages across Michigan. Got a Call at 10:30 PM that surgery was cancelled due to no power at hospital and only doing emergency surgeries on generator power, also a boil water advisory in effect. Rescheduled for 9/13 with possibility of opening a slot earlier. I had just done the prep at 10 pm and was trying to go to sleep for a 5:15 am arrival at hospital. Hospital called and lady said she was sorry about 8 times during the conversation. Well, only 2 week delay. minor set back.

OH NO! :gaah:

What a job! I don't blame her for the excessive apologies, being the bearer of that bad news.

I am so sorry! What a disappointment that call must have been. Thankfully you don't have to wait too terribly long.
I can't even imagine being that close, then poof, change of plans. Hang in there and take it easy over the next couple weeks. Fingers crossed they fit you in sooner. :fingersx:

Left THR completed 9/13. Doing well and progressing 10 days post-surgery on left hip. Was a little apprehensive about right hip , but it is responding well also. Some differences from LTHR compared to RTHR in April.
LTHR Pain was unbearable with any weight for first 2 days compared to being able to walk with minimal pain after first hip. Recovery by 5th day a lot faster this time, meaning I could walk and sleep with tolerable pain. A lot more bruising and swelling in the upper thigh this time, compared to swelling in the whole leg and hardly any bruising the first time. Overall recovery seems to be a little better with a small setback with extra pain on Monday and Tuesday 7 and 8 days after surgery, that quickly recovered by evening of Tuesday. In home PT is saying I am well into recovery and says hips are aligned well and since I already went through the process a few months ago sees very positive signs. I see Dr for 2 week follow up on 9/21 and expect I will be ready for outpatient PT at that time.

Congrats double hippy!
Happy Five Month Anniversary, Righty! Not today, but close enough.
I'll bet you're happy to be back on Recovery Road with both surgeries now behind you. I'm wondering if the date you typed for your two week visit with the surgeon is a typo...and if that's the case, good luck with your first post op appointment next week. Let us know how it goes.
Have a nice weekend!
