I am ready for both of you to be out of pain and worry free! Oct 11 will be here soon Hap! :happydance:

Here I am again :umm:OS appt. didn't go so well. Seems there still is infection in this darn knee!! Os had to digging in the knee for fliud for testing, this time it really hurt. I guess it isn't too easy to poke around cement. So now we wait for results. The weekly blood tests haven't iimproved at all. Ok, so I am bummed. This surgeries are tough, this will be #4. I wish someone could just tell me when this will be over and I can have a knee and just walk again. It's just too much to handle emotionally now. :beg:

Are you staying in Salt Lake until this over? It must be hard to be away from home--but maybe help from relatives makes that better too. I am so sorry to hear about your knee. Infection was my biggest fear--probably the fear of most of us. I hope life smooths out for you soon. Kelly

Oh, Linda,

I am so sorry! How long have you had the spacer in, and do you know your SED rates and CRP rates? I hope they can get you on an antibotic that will respond, and kill off the rest of those "beastly bugs!" :console2:

I know Kelly said that infection was her biggest fear as well as most people's. I knew going in I had a 50/50 chance of getting MRSA and the odds were correct! My left knee is fine, my right... Well that's the rest of the story. Linda, even though I had infection, I knew that I would find a way to come through it! I know what you are going through emotionally, physically, and you are wondering why you had this done in the first place.

I can answer that. You knew your old knees no longer gave you a life of quality, just quantity. You have been through so much, but please know we are here for you! We care, some of us have blazed the trail you are going down and are doing pretty darned good! Was it easy? NO! Was it worth it? You better believe it.

My ID doc removed my PICC line Weds. I am now off all antibiotics. I ended up having a reaction to one or combination of them. I have blood work next week to see what is going on.
Don't give up! I was very frustrated but feel much better that things are getting back to normal. I have not started PT yet, but that is due to the fact that the Patella surgery on Sept. 18. Wants me to be careful not to tear tendon again.
I have had 4 surgeries too! I have one hell of a scar. I am doing much better, hour by hour, day by day, I improve.
Hopefully you will have speedy recovery after your next surgery!
Good Luck and thinking of you :-)

Vicki,

I am so glad the picc line is out! :happydance: And you are making progress. Keep up the great work! :happydance:

I lnow how you feel . I am going in for my third surgery in 4 days i just want the pain gone and cant tell you how much i want to shed this bag around my neck that is for the antobiatics. They say i will have to have it for 6 more weeks lucky me. Is there anyone out there that can tell me more about having this spacer put in and how long it took them to get the real deal back in. I could really use some input one begains to feel they are the only one with this problem it would be nice to talk to someone that has some of the same problems . Thanks

Sonya is your gal. She's been through it all. She's like the canary in the cave. She's been through just about every knee procedure including multiple infections.

I had my spacer in for almost four months. When they put my new knee back in they did swabs and it showed that there was still some infection there so I was put on two lots of antibiotics for another 6 weeks to clear it. My new knee is great now good bend and no pain. It's a long ordeal but you will get there.Irene
