I hope your OS can find a way to afford you better pain control. It does sound as if you're doing everything you possibly can in terms of elevating and icing, and keeping exercise gentle. There's no way to hurry the body's healing, but if you could get your pain under control that would help so very much. Please let us know what your OS recommends.

ok susie. went to os he said rom is excellent since the pain is inconsistent with knee movement must be nerve pain... he cannot give me anything since now i am under care of the smart pain people....also why are thinking that I am new to opioids by the doses they are giving me it is like for a person just starting out... believe me bad knees 20 years I am not!!..when i first went there I was taking 12 mg dilaudid every 4 hours enough to put a normal person in the hospital lol ...so I called the smart pain people( expressing my pain and displeasure of the way I was treated ) i have an 830 appt in am

Good news from the OS about your knees! I don't know much about nerve pain, though, other than some people with TKR have it. Maybe one of them will stop by with their insights. I'm glad you'll be seeing the smart pain people in the morning. Make them prove their smarts by coming up with a way to help you!

its amazing my sig. other has been home 2 hours hasnt asked how i am or what happend at dr. today ..i a.m just ruining her life

@dennyside I had/have nerve pain in my shins. It used to be my whole calves and ankles, drove me nuts! My doctor prescribed Gabapentin which has really helped! You should ask your OS as I could take this with my pain meds. As far as your sig. other goes- some people don't do well with "sick" people and if she sees you up and doing for yourself- maybe she just doesn't get it.:what: We get it and I'm sorry for your frustration but things are getting better and every day is one more day closer to the finish line. Remember it's a marathon! You are in my thoughts! Keep positive!

Many of us recovered from this surgery all by ourselves. Just pretend she's not even there! You'll be fine!

i have to let you all know in am i would like to be optomistic but i havent got much evidence frkm my knees so far

well guys i felt good enough to try the bed naturally my sig other uprotested and she slept on the recliner.boo whoooo..couldnt really get comfy..little swellig this am but not much i n the way of pain still optomistic

It really sounds like your knees are better behaved the last day or so. Bilateral knees can be bears about getting comfy for sleeping. That may be something you find easier down the road. Often there's one position that works better than the others, so go with that until your knees become more agreeable.

suzie i cant believe this little swelling and tightness pain level 2 took a 3 hour ride in my car just because it felt good to see something other than tv sittin in recliner now not even thin kin about knees ..this cant be!!!!!

It can be. Just know it can reverse temporarily at any time. At your stage of recovery, it's natural for swelling and, therefore, pain, to ebb and flow with how much activity you do, the weather, or something else you might never identify. Just take strength in knowing your knees are moving forward in healing, and continue to treat them as what they are: recovering knees. Rest, Ice, Elevate. Do these things whenever you have a chance.

Eventually you will not need to do them as often. But for now... obey the knees. If they like something, you're good and can continue. If they don't like something, stop doing it. :ok:

When you're feeling better it is so easy to over do and then become a member of that ODIC. Be careful and take just little baby steps. If you find you can do an activity without pain, then you can add a little something to it. But, don't go crazy with it or you'll pay dearly for it with an angry knee. Definitely not worth it!

i thank you.and now that you mention it i had to get a friend to take me to the hospital cause it was 2 early for her to get up....just this evening she brought carry out home everyone but me...nasty nasty woman
