Hi Juanita, following is a link to the Shoulder Recovery area so you’ll be able to check in on Sara and support her through posting on her thread. :)

I'll post a link in my hip recovery thread when I start the shoulder recovery thread (which will probably be a few days before op when I know I can type!)

And now I'll stop derailing your thread!

Well I had my injection appointment today and I did good , wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be . It was uncomfortable but nothing compared to the pain I’ve been dealing with :yes!: Now the waiting game to see if it works, I’m hoping to get the phone call soon to schedule my revision surgery yay!!!! I did get my bone scan scheduled for Thursday, hopefully all goes well with that lol ..... I hope everyone has a great weekend:loveshwr:

:fingersx: Fingers crossed the injection brings relief. Best wishes for the bone scan next week.
Happy Saturday...I hope it’s a good one! :SUNsmile:
@Ryesgma

Just curious if anyone knows how long it takes for an injection in the piriformis to work??? It seems as if the pain has gotten worse, I did read that it could get worse before it gets better but how long does the worse last lol :rotfl:

@Ryesgma unfortunately the pain can get worse before it gets better. Everybody has different reactions to the injections. Normally for me, if they don't use any pain med with the injection, it takes a good two weeks to start feeling any relief. If you aren't icing you may want to try that. I know when I went to pain management prior to surgery for injections they encouraged me to ice if I had any pain or swelling. At the time I wasn't a fan of ice, if course that has since changed. Hoping you get some relief from this injection.

Ok OUCH!!!! All I can say at this point is I'm glad I probably won't have to get another injection :dead: the pain is worse than before , but I will hang on knowing that I will get this fixed in a couple months. Just hoping that I can pull it together tomorrow for my bone scan , my sister works for a radiology department and said that I was going to be exposed to a lot of radiation for this test , I'm a little concerned about that. But the surgeon ordered it so ..... Hoping I don't start to glow in the dark lol :rofsign:

:giggle:
I don’t think you’ll glow, but.... sounds like you are having a nuclear bone scan... ?

They never said how long it stays in your body but after the test I drank so much water to try and flush it out of my system. Don’t know if it worked but at least it got me to drink more water! :martini:

@Marvy yeppers I’m having a nuclear bone scan , I guess this will definitely show if there’s any loosening whatsoever. It seems like they’ll do anything to get you to drink a ton of water lol :rotfl: My surgeon is also saying I have to quit smoking before he will do my revision, so now I’m doing that too !!!’ I swear my drs have been riding my butt for years about this and now they have finally found the one thing that is going to get me to quit (getting out of this pain that by the way they put me in) I’m still waiting for the phone call from the scheduler so I’ll actually know when the date is:nah:i have already had to back out of a trip to London with my adult children so I’m hoping this happens soon

I wouldn't worry to much about the radiation exposure @Ryesgma. I have worked with and around radioactive materials and radiation generating devices for 30 years. Unless you have some other significant source of exposure this test shouldn't be a problem. Most people don't realize that we are exposed to approximately 300 mili rems of radiation every year from natural sources like cosmic radiation. The sun constantly bombard the earth with radiation most pf which is blacked by the earths magnetic field, that's actually the source of the northern lights. One of the occupations subjected to the most radiation exposure are Flight Attendants. All that time flying at 30,000 feet they are not as protected from cosmic radiation. Sorry to science geek out on you but because most people don't get taught any thing about radiation and all you hear is "radiation bad" the fear of it is greater than it needs to be. Not saying there's no hazard but the chance of getting cancer from our medical exposures is incredibly small.

Sorry you have to miss a trip. Keep us posted on the scan and best of luck kicking the habit!
I hope today is a good one! :SUNsmile:
@Ryesgma

I quit almost 8 years ago. I combined patch, keeping sugarfree mints anywhere I would have kept the cigs and hypnosis (I do think that helped). I had quit for 11 months 3 times previously, but this was the first time I didn't crave them (other than a few times the first week). I even had dreams where I was smoking a cigarette and someone reminded me I had quit and I immediately put it out in my dream! Also for first time, I hated even the smell of cig smoke.

You CAN do this! You have quite an incentive!

@SaraK good advice , I've been doing the sugar free mints and I'm doing ok so far I wasn't a heavy smoker 3-4 cigarettes a day maybe but I've been doing it off and on since I was 15 . I've quit before but always went back after 6 months so this time I have to make sure it's permanent:egypdance: @Layla I had the scan done today it wasn't bad at all and my surgeon already emailed with the results , I don't have any loosening of the components so at this time we are proceeding with the screw removal/revision of sorts but I won't even get a call to schedule it until April:groan:so I'm thinking I won't have it done until May - June . Which sucks because the pain is horrible and the injection did nothing :boohoo:

I know it seems like such a long time to wait - especially when you're in pain. Just remember that every day you're one day closer to being out of pain! Try to hang in there (and we'll hang out with you)!

Good afternoon, Juanita :wave:
Great news there is no loosening. I’m sorry about the pain, it’s sad you have to wait.
Wishing you comfort in the interim. Have a pleasant weekend! :SUNsmile:
@Ryesgma

Well it’s two weeks since my injection and I’ve had absolutely no relief whatsoever :hissy: I’m getting at the end of my rope dealing with this pain!!!! I called the surgery scheduler today and was told they’re not scheduling any procedures until 4/5 and that can change because of this stupid coronavirus. I never in my life thought I would be dealing with this kind of chronic pain:bawl:ok sorry rant over , I guess I just had to vent I’m just sooooo miserable right now . I hope everyone else is doing well and getting along good:walking:

:hi:
I know dealing with chronic pain with these added stressors is tough...:console2:
Please try to get outside if you can...find a sunny spot to bask in and maybe a book you can distract yourself with.
Hope today is a better day.
