THR Juanita's Hip Recovery

I would love to be able to celebrate a success in the very near future :dancy: I believe I will try and dance around my house again lol . I have my consult over the phone tomorrow with the allergy dr and then from there I guess we will schedule a test . The pain in my leg has started to get just a little worse (I didn’t think it was possible) kind of feeling a burning like fire sensation on top of the pain:censored: don’t know if anyone else has felt this before ???? But the only thing I can do at this point is try my hardest to keep the faith and wait for my upcoming appointment. Who knows maybe the surgeon who did my thr will decide to be the one to take out my screw because now he has proof that there’s an issue and I’m not just a whiny old lady:old: well anyway I hope everyone is having a great day and is able to live life to the fullest:walking:

Well, another small step in the right direction..hopefully things will start moving more quickly to get you some relief! :prayer:

Had phone appointment with allergy dr and all’s good with me having the injection into the Piriformis so now we wait again for the appointment for that . :tiredwheel: I’m going to try and see what can be done to speed up the process because right now I’m basically a shut in and can barely get out of bed anymore:alarm: I’ve emailed the surgeons again to see if they’ve had a chance to look at my scans so waiting to get their responses, hope everyone has a great weekend and do something fun for me:cheers:

So sorry to see you some still hurting so much.:console2:
I was wondering...do you have a recliner that you can prop up in?
I know before surgery, I got a used one and it was the only place I could get any semblance of comfortable and it was a blessing during recovery. Being out in the common area felt less islolating than in the bed too.
I hope they get back with you very soon.

Good evening hippies , I hope everyone is doing well. I received my phone call today to schedule the injection into my Piriformis it is on 3/6 :yes!: I’m really hoping that this will provide some relief until I can find a surgeon to help me , I do still have an appointment on Tuesday with my 5th orthopedic surgeon and I’m trying not to get my hopes up to high that he will help me because I don’t want to be disappointed again . But we shall see what happens. My horrible back pain has subsided a little , I just wish this leg pain would do the same:eyebrows: but with this darn screw I don’t think it’s possible , well I won’t whine anymore lol , just thank you to everyone for all your kind words and prayers:thankyou:

It's good to hear from you.. thankful to hear that your injection is scheduled and it's right around the corner..
You aren’t whining, friend. You are coping with some serious pain and deep concern... it's good that you have a safe place here to vent.
We are rooting for you.

Hello and Happy Thursday @Ryesgma
Good luck on Tuesday with your OS appointment.
I hope the injection next week brings you some well deserved relief.
Hang in there! :)

Wishing you the best with your appointment with the new OS, will keep my fingers crossed for you. :fingersx: And hope that you get some relief from the injection on the 6th. :praying:

Got a call today from my original orthopedic surgeons nurse who set up a phone appointment with him for tomorrow morning so we shall see what he has to say about the ct scan results. I’m not really expecting too much from him being that he has never wanted to think that there was anything wrong with my hip replacement over the last 11 months but I was told to give the original surgeon a chance to weigh in on the protruding screw issue so that’s what I did :thumb: can’t wait to see what his take on it is lol , hope everyone is having a great day

Hey guys , well here’s the news I’ve been waiting 11 months to hear!!!’ The amazing surgeon I saw yesterday (#5) is going to do what he’s calling a partial revision, going in and removing the protruding screw!!!!!!! I guess I was so excited , and still I guess surprised that I was finally able to get someone to help me that I am just now able to put it into words and update you guys :dancy: I do however have to wait about 3 months to get a surgery date but I’ll take it . I’m not sure exactly how I feel about having to go through this surgery again and what exactly it entails so if there’s any advice , suggestions etc I would appreciate hearing about it. The surgeon is also going to be ordering a bone scan as well to check for loosening???? Anyone have this done ?:what: I have an appointment this Friday for a steroid injection in my Piriformis and he said I can go ahead and get it done, now I’m nervous about that too, not sure if any of this makes sense sorry I’m all over the place but hopefully only good things to come from now on and a pain free life:thankyou:

Good news! It sounds like you have a plan in place and some relief in sight. I’m wondering why you have to wait three months to schedule a surgery date? Are you meaning that the surgeon is scheduling three months out from now? If that’s the case, did you schedule a date yesterday, or today? Let us know and we’ll update your signature.

Good luck with your injection on Friday. Hopefully it helps ease your pain.
Have a great afternoon and evening!
@Ryesgma

:yes!: Screw be gone!!! It sounds like you will have what I had - a "revision" - of sorts.... The surgeon who did mine replaced the liner that the ball fits into since he said that getting it out, pretty much ruins it. The cup that is screwed in didn't get replaced as it was grown into the bone. So once the liner was out, he removed the screw(s), replaced the liner and the ball and put me back together again.

The only reason the ball was replaced was for the leg length difference I had. No new screws were put in. (Some surgeons do not use screws when doing a THR).

Because mine was done posterior, I still had the 90 day restriction that I had with my original THR. I'm not sure if it was really needed or if it was just my surgeon being cautious. But, I wasn't going to take any chances. The overall recovery was better though since nothing was done to the stem, no bones were cut, etc..

Even though 3 months sounds like a long time, it will go fast as you can now plan and get things ready for recovery.

I had a nuclear bone scan done to check for issues (it came back negative). They injected the medicine and told me to come back in 3-4 hours. The actual scan lasted maybe 10 minutes??? It wasn't long at all.

I'm so happy that you have found a surgeon that recognized what the issue is!!!

Oh, so happy to read this is getting fixed.:egypdance:
Is the 3 month wait due to the injection?
I really was hoping it could be sooner but I'm so happy there's a plan in place.
Big hugsxxxx

Wow, Juanita. Finally! It’s great to be validated but too bad it was so long in coming. Sounds like @Marvy ‘s great description of his procedure would parallel yours. I know it’s not fun contemplating another surgery but you’re probably about ready to do anything right now to get on with life. You’ve persisted 11 months. You will prevail in the next 3. I hope it goes by quickly. Did you have the call with your original OS that was scheduled?

Yay! I hate that you're having another surgery, but it sounds like this is the "surgery to end all surgeries"! 3 months can seem like forever but you at least have a plan to move forward. (Mojo, you're allowed to quote that back to me when I'm going nuts in a sling for 6 weeks). Maybe the injection into the performs will help blunt the pain in the interim. Since the performs sometimes causes problems with the sciatic nerve, maybe reducing inflammation in it will provide some short-term relief.

@Layla I will be hearing from the scheduler in a couple weeks but I guess this surgeon is booking surgeries 3 months out so I’m figuring I should be getting it done around June . @ Marvy thanks for all the info , your experience sounds exactly like what my surgeon said mine would be , it’s great to know I’m not the only one . @SaraK i agree with the having another surgery issue I’m not looking forward to it but if it means an end to my pain I’ll take it!!! And may I ask why are you wearing a sling ?? Hope your ok @Hip4life I’m so glad that this is almost over and that my persistence paid off , and my phone call with the original orthopedic surgeon went as I expected he didn’t see anything wrong with the screw placement. @Mojo333 thank you so much for all of your encouragement same to you @Elf1 you guys have been amazing and so supportive through all of this :thankyou:

Oh my goodness! What great news and you must feel so relieved! 3 months is a bit of a bummer, but it will go quickly and just knowing you have a plan will help, don't you think?
I am so happy for you, to have a plan in place! :roseshwr:
