Hi Natalie!
My heart just breaks for you. There just has to be an answer for you. Love and prayers!

I have waited 5 days to be told the outcome of the meeting Monday was that ideally need to see my surgeon in person and there is nothing else they can tell me and I'm assured he will be in clinic for my appointment in a weeks time and ill quote what she said "It's only a week away" I had to ring her AGAIN to find this out she never had the decency to ring me back.
After 8 hours sleep in the last 3 days I just burst into tears Ive also jut rang Medical Records who said well you may aswell pick your scans up on Friday at your appointment!I knew they were messing with me too!

I am sorry you are going through so much trouble. I don't understand how medical works in the UK- it seems very different than here in the US. I would be very angry/upset about the lack of communication with everyone and how you cannot get your scan results and would work very hard to get them. I would be calling the office every hour on the hour and if I get upset- well? that happens. Two years ago when I was fighting for answers with my right tkr, I called and called and called. Granted, it took a long time for something to happen, but finally I got someone to listen and see that I really did have something wrong and it wasn't just in my head.
What would happen if you went to an emergency room? Would they turn you away or would they be able to at least give you something for the pain? Are you able to take some sleep aids in order to sleep better? You don't have to have prescription sleep aids, I have used Benedryl and Tylenol PM in the past and those worked pretty good for me.
Keep your head up. There are a lot of people thinking about you and hoping for some results soon :)

Hey Coachie I think they are just avoiding giving me any info until I see my surgeon I just don't see why they can't be upfront with me.

If I don't get some answers at my appointment on 2nd November then I will be kicking off a lot!!

The docs have given me alsorts for sleep but most things only work a few days then Im back to not sleeping.I use Benadryl for the itching the morphine causes and that makes me drowsy but not sleep through the pain.My main issue is I can't sleep because of pain and then when I do drop off the knee twitches violently and I scream as the pain is so bad and I'm awake again.
The emergencey room can't give me anything that I'm not already on I don't think :(
I honestly don't think the surgeon will have any answers next Friday either :( Im putting a letter together to give him before the appointment telling him how bad things are.
I am so glad you are all here for me xx

Ah, Natalie, I hope you get some positive response from you surgeon when you see him. Can you take a support person to help you be firm and strong?

It's probably not intentional, but the System seems to have given you some cruel and unusual punishment.

Wishing you well and sending lots of virtual hugs!

Celle

Natalie,
Am I confused again or were you told the scans etc were in the mail already? If I were you when I went to that appointment with your surgeon I would refuse to leave until I had all that information in my hands, and I would be throwing just a fit.
Another question if they have already met and are saying nothing can be done then what is the surgeon going to do? Wouldn't he be in agreement with what came out of the meeting?? Just trying to understand what you are having to go thru.
Please don't give up or give in enough is enough you need to get this info off to someone that could maybe help and sooner rather than later. I keep praying for you, we haven't given up on you so don't you.

What if you refused to leave his consulting room till you get answers?
I hope you have someone with you next week to stick up for you
Good luck x

You need to start being assertive, Nat. You should have told Med Records that's beside the point. I want them NOW, please, so send them to me as requested. Doing a letter for MP is a very good idea. My sister didn't get anywhere until she wrote him a letter at 3 in the morning detailing everything she was going through. They can;t get that kind of info in a 10 min apppointment.

Hi Natalie, I like Celle's suggestion of taking a support person with you. Is it possible to find some sort of medical advocate who knows the system and how these guys tick? I hope you get some answers soon. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts coming your way.

Hi Celle,

Yes they did say that they had put them in the post but today they totally went back on that!!
Sorry I may have worded the post wrong earlier I didn't mean that the outcome of the meeting was nothing more can be done what I meant was they said they couldn't tell me anything more until my appointment next week, she wouldn't give me scan results or tell me what was said in the meeting.Fingers crossed for Friday.

Thanks Margaret Im not sure I can find a medical advocate at such a late stage but my husband is coming with me and he always listens better than I manage too I always go to pieces in the appointments :(

Oh, Natalie I'm just catching up on your thread. I was so hoping to find you had gotten answers. I'm very glad to hear you will be taking your husband with you. Sometimes having that second person stick up for you and listen and ask questions helps. I like speccy's comment about refusing to leave until you get answers.
I'm pulling for you. :console2:

Hi Natalie, I have been off bonesmart for a while, so you were my first port of call to see how you are doing!.I have to say I am completely shocked that you are still in so much pain and still they have done nothing to help you. it's awful. i was hoping by now you'd be on your way to see Dr maale. I hope your visit to the hospital next week brings you some relief. Take care,Be strong,Have faith. love n hugs Dawn xxx

Hi Natalie, would you be allowed to use a digital voice recorder, even on a smartphone, so that you have a record of what they tell you. Then you can listen again later. I like your idea of writing a letter and handing it to him. I always take a little notebook in with me and have my questions written down with gaps between and then write the answers underneath the question. I've had my little white spiral bound notebook from the day I was admitted to hospital and its amazing what you forget that they have told you.

Hi Nat-
I like the idea of a recording. I also take my list of questions but I don't think I could write down the answers very well. I'd be too hurried so a recording sounds great. I find myself in the doctors meetings often missing some important information. He might start out with something of interest and I get caught up in that thought and don't hear the rest of what is said. And I know how important these meetings are too us. Alot of emotion goes into that room when we walk in and we want and need our questions answered. Lord knows you have waited long enough for his answers. We are all anxiously waiting to hear what happens. Be calm and be strong.
Martha

aaah Martha, I forgot that I write shorthand so can write the answers almost as quick as they come out of his mouth!.

Natalie! :friends:

I hate to hear about all of the pain you are going through. Someone I met recently decided to try to get a phone consult with Dr. Maale and the nurse said that he wouldn't do that. I will contact Amy, and let her know that Dr. Maale and I have already agreed on your case that a phone consult was acceptable, after he sees the scans. (Not everyone who knows me can just use my name and bypass Amy!) :heehee:
Amy is a sweetheart, and she knows me well! As soon as I call, she will say " well what did you do this time?"  :heehee:
