TKR Indieknee trying to recover

Well my knee certainly likes being pampered with stronger pain meds and nerve pain meds. I can elevate and ice comfortably and actually talk to people without snarling.
But as I’ve learnt not to celebrate too soon, I relaxed and helped my husband set up a refurbished laptop that hopefully, I’m going to use downstairs for work.
I know, not everyone’s cup of tea, but we had a lovely few hours being geeky and technological.:)

Being geeky and techie with Mr. Shoes is one of my guilty pleasures. Technology intimidates me -- how I gave birth to tech wizards, I can't explain -- but he learns all the necessary things and then guides me through them. At the end of it all, our tech works and makes us happy. :snork:

Hope your laptop makes for good work!

Pain meds ease recovery by allowing you to live with your knees until they heal enough to stop hurting. Not much in life seems to go well when a soul is hurting.

I didn’t get much exercise today, I was too busy in my recliner elevating and icing but also geeking around with my laptop.
I did manage to do a teeny bit of work but mostly I enjoyed myself. My cats helped me :catwindow:
@SusieShoes all this was good for the pain and the soul I think.

If possible can I rename my thread : Indieknee trying to recover despite CRPS

I changed your title as you requested.

I had to spend some time in the office today as there was stuff I couldn’t do on my laptop. I’m lucky because ‘the office’ is upstairs - I work at home. But, although the stairs are a pain in the knee, sitting at my desk is a bigger pain.
Afterwards, it was a delight to relax in my recliner with some ice and a cat, cool and warm therapy. My knee has now decided that it likes cool ice but not cold ice.

I found when sitting at my computer desk I needed a small platform to put my foot on. (foot of operated leg) I used the short cardboard box a case of water bottles came in. It was sturdy cardboard and only a few inches high. I turned it upside down and put a small quilted pad on top. It was enough to take some pressure off my knee. I used a small pillow in the car for the same reason.

I’m lying in comfort with my leg elevated and me medicated. My knee is fine as long as I do not touch or move it. If I do move it, the pain burns, twinges, tightens and aches in varying degrees. It does this even with strong pain meds, so I’m moving it as little as possible! It doesn’t stop me from falling asleep but it does wake me up.
It’s just started twinging when I’m not moving it aagh!
Oh well cool ice it with a light-weight homemade ice pack as suggested by jockette. I wish they made an ultra light thin rectangular one for my ice machine, I find the plastic one provided too hard and heavy.
I think it’s kindle time - a good murder mystery should do the trick - night, night.

A chiropractor from long ago told me how to make those! I glad it’s working for you!

Welcome to the Daily Moan.
Although my knee feels as if it’s stuck while being pushed through a small hole, I have a yen for a walk by the river. If it’s raining we’ll buy chips (US = french fries?). There’s nothing like eating hot chips in the rain. If it’s not raining we’ll buy chips incase it does.
My knee has been ‘recovering’ for just over 3 months - sounds longer than 14 weeks for some reason. The pain changes but doesn’t go away. Before my op I had some acupuncture for the arthritis pain. It only worked for about half an hour but those 30 mins were bliss, bliss, bliss. I’ll ask my pt if they provide it.
I’m beginning to ramble so I’ll sign off for now. I love this forum and all the people on it.:loveshwr:

Sounds like a great plan. It’s always good to be prepared!

We decided to go for a coffee and a spot of people watching.
When we arrived at the cafe, they said they couldn’t serve us. Were we banned from the coffee shop? Surely not!! We are upstanding citizens. No, they’d had a power cut.
Apparently the power was out only on one side of the street, so we crossed the road and went into a little French bistro. Our yummy cherry and almond tarts and delicious coffee were well worth the extra walk.
What has this got to do with my knee? Well because of this mini micro adventure, I am lying in bed with a very angry knee, but I don’t care.

I think your knee might be more of a drama queen than mine! I think it’s past time they get over themselves! :console2:

You’re quite right, I think they’re being very spiteful, mine’s just woken me up. I’ll have to calm it down with some cold packs.

One of these days that drama queen will get off of her high horse and let you do the things you want to do more often! It does get better!

Sistersinhim - in my mind I now have this vivid image of a drama queen on a high horse :heehee:
Today I was very busy, I got up late, did about an hours work, surfed the web with my iPad, fell asleep, fed the cats, reclined in a stupor and watched tv. My knee feels much better.

I went to pt today and suffered some massage, which actually, wasn’t so bad. She kept muttering ‘mm ... interesting’ I wasn’t sure I wanted to know why, so I didn’t ask. Then some acupuncture which was very good. It wasn’t on my knee but in various places on my leg and one on my foot. It was only a very brief session but It made me feel a bit spaced out afterwards :). Anyway my next pt is in 2 weeks time when I will have a much longer acupuncture session .
Now all the ‘goodness’ has worn off, but I’m in bed, my knee is elevated, the skin feels too tender for ice but it’s not complaining too much. Before I went to pt the back of my knee on the inner side of my knee was complaining - it isn’t now, so that’s something.
On a different note - my scar is very purple, will this fade? Is there anything I can do to help it? It also has a kind of silvery surface in parts, which seems to be more visible sometimes.
