In pain, confusion and uncertainty after 4 months

Hi there, Jim. How are you doing? See all these folks have hijacked your thread! :hehe: But we still know you're there!

Has anyone recommended arch supporting orthotics to control the pronation? Might be all that needs to stop the ankles collapsing inward. Any unnatural action in one joint will cause a reaction in another joint that works in sync with it. You know... the hip bone connected to the thigh bone etc........

Josephine, Thanks for the input. I got a call from Lubbock yesterday (2nd doctor). His nurse said they "were talking about me" and wanted to arrange a white blood cell tagging procedure looking for inflamaton or infection in a local hospital (they lined it up for the 5th and 6h) and then consult with them there in Lubbock. I appreciated that they staffed my case and had some ideas.
I'm awake and posting because I woke up with my knees achng. It's still weird to me how the discomfort travels around. -got some pool exercise in yesterday.
-still hoping for something definitive, Jim :sigh:

I'll bet that made you feel good that they are at least thinking how to help you and not just putting you on the back burner!!! Here's hoping!

-No problem, Jo. But I do wonder if there is any way to sub-let a thread. I have been busy getting around to work and to medical/dental appointments. On Easter I could only track on, and not run down a couple of grandkids looking for eggs. I'm waiting on WBC tests results from Lubbock :pzld:. If I go back there soon (they said they might want me to come down) maybe I'll check out the B. Holly Museum.
Thanks, Jim :thmb:

Yeah!, It seems that they still use a team approach down there! When they called me I knew it wasn't a restraining order (they would have mailed legal papers ordering me to stay away). Where I live it seems like everyone is out to do their own thing which feels unfortable when you think a doctor is geeting off on his own tangent (the surgeion here, after rattling off a list of foods I might have eaten, proposed that I have gout). I eat none of the foods and had to wait several paragraphs before I could tell him so :hissy:. But that's life here on the frontier. I did get under the atomic camera (another knew experience for me-felt like I was in 2000 Space Odyssey): I was wating for "Hal" to say, "Jim...Jim...I'm concerned about you Jim". I am waiting to hear about the results (should be soon).
Thanks for your attention. Jim:D

Thanks, Josephine. I need a sense of something, I guess, until I can figure out what's going on. Jim :pzld:

It appears that WBC testing came out negative (I got the results myself), but I am going to keep an appt. in Lubbock with surgeon #2 to see if he has anything to add.
I'm getting around with crutches-moving somewhat faster than with the walker. But I still can't bear much weight on the new (L) hip at near 6 months.
Jim

Oh Jim - that's really good news in one way but rather puts you back at square one, doesn't it?

At the hip symposium I attended last September, there were various discussions about undiagnosable pain and the general consensus seemed to be that in such circumstances, a revision often seemed to be the remedy even when no actual cause for the pain can be found. Perhaps that's the way to go.

Yeah, Karen. -particularly with one who has always been able to outline and meet even difficult-even stupid- objectives (like running a maration at 40 degress below zero).
Now, tell me you are doing well. Jim

Boy, I hate to think about that after everything I've been through, but I think I'd do it if that's what it takes. I keep thinking this hip has GOT to settle down or settle in, particulary if there is no identifiable cause for discomfort. But I do feel like I'm trying to make the wrong size shoe (or hip joint ) fit beneath me:cry:. For that matter, I've never known how you ladies can handle high heels.
Thanks, Jo, for the input. I'll try to keep an open, unfearful mind.
Jim

Good for you, Jim....that's the right attitude for sure.

Jim,
You do have a great attitude. I was just thinking about you today- I feel so much better being able to switch to a cane today and start 100% weight bearing, (thanks for asking) and here you still can't tolerate weight bearing. :hissy: Boy I would be pulling my hair out. I think that's smart to still go talk to dr #2 again. I keep thinking there MUST be something that needs to be done for you, but maybe the answers aren't always as simple as we'd like. And I can't even IMAGINE running a marathon, much less one at those temps!!!!! :shk:

Never been one for high heels, myself!! I am all about happy feet. And I'm already tall, so who needs it! :hehe:

Hi Jim! I have to say I could never do high heels or marathons! Are you still going to the pool? Just wondering how you are finding the effects? The one I found that I was in such joy about had their heater break....I went in and it was 80 degrees and felt chilly! I can't believe I used to go swimming on my b-day in a lake and river fed by a glacier - I have become a weeeeeenie!

Chris

Yeah, Chris, I'm the Wide (or narrow) World of Weenie Sports now too. My cycling buddies went for an 90 mile ride on Saturday, and after running some errands I timed it to drive out to meet them on The Great American Desert in my air conditioned car and joined them for lunch. The hamberger that used to be just marvelous after riding 40 to 50 miles wasn't quite so good, but the homemade pie at the Half Point Cafe (half way between Chicago and the West Coast on old route 66) was scruptuos. I packed up my walker and drove the weenie way home while they rode back on the return trip.
-got back in time to ride the new recliner and watch the Masters tournament. My God, what have I become?! Perhaps you too wore fleece indoors this winter, clothing that in the past you couldn't bare to wear in the house.
I hit the water (it's at a temperature for lap swimming), but it initially seemed to aggravate everything. But if I don't get any precautions this week from surgeion #2 (I'll see him on Thursday), I'm going to hit it...that is, amble in it again.
Thanks, Chris, for your concern and attention. Jim

-Wonderful, Karen :thmb:!! -a cane already! Boy, I'd just love to be using a cane. They're...they're so...so much more accomodating than the rolling baby gate (walker)and the stilts (crutches) that I have been dragging around. The only thing worse might be walking and maintaining balance with post hole diggers.
I am glad that it's going well for you. Thanks for looking in on me. Jim

Jo, Jo!, JO!! :hissy: I'm coming up on 6 months with this deal. Do I need, like with U.S. taxes, to file an extention on this thread?! Jim

Aw bless you, my dear man! At our age we can't afford to be losing months or our lives waiting on people to make up their minds to do something, can we? I think, were I in your shoes, I'd be hammering on some doors demanding some expediency in this.

Jim, you crack me up!!! Rolling baby gate- that's exactly what it feels like!!
Keep up that sense of humor, it can only help.
Did you mention when you go back to talk to doc #2? Keep us posted.
