Thanks RestAssured the knee is still the boss. haha I love your little dogs. I have a doxiepoo part dachshund part poodle. She looks like a dachshund her name is Audrey and she is 13 years old. She is such a joy her personality is funny because she could be a little brat sometimes. She has congestive heart failure so she is on meds right now. But she has a good appetite and alot of energy still. I just love that little dog.
I think I've said something similar before but you are rushing ahead far too quickly and said you stopped pain meds very early. Now you're paying the price. At the very least start your pain meds again, even if it's only the Tylenol/ibuprofen cocktail.
To add something to what everyone else has said. Check your shoes. When we are gimping around before surgery our shoes wear in strange patterns. You can usually see the wear on the soles of your shoes. Once we have our surgery we are no longer walking in the same way; however, our shoes are throwing us off kilter and thus our backs hurt. If you find this to be true, I hereby authorize you to buy new shoes!!
Haha.... Barb I have bought several new pairs. Went to an outside mall today because today has been the first nice weather day in Chicago since last year. My legs felt tired after about an hour on my feet. I know I do to much I think Josephine is right I need to go back on my meds because Advil alone is not helping. My knee doesn't hurt it's just the weakness in my legs. I just need to build up the muscles again.
Sorry Josephine but for some reason this web site confuses me. I think you are right about the meds. I did not know about the tylenol/ibuprofen cocktail. I will try it. Thanks
This site is great! I got so sad today because I got on the scale and seen that I have gained about 8 lbs. Then I read some posts and seen that this is very normal while in recovery. I tried going back to the gym last week but it was just to much to soon. I think I had a set back from doing to much. I gave in the other day and took a tylenol with codeine and just rested and iced all day. That really helped. I do walk alot and I do tire out alot!
I am going on vacation next week so I will be bringing some pains meds to get me through the walking. We are going to be cruising so I think I will be able to rest when I need to.
ihurt222, Would you please put your surgery date in your signature, as well as what surgery you had (i.e., LTKR, RTHR) like the rest of us do? You can find the instructions here: How to create a signature. But please also remember that our membership is international and for clarity use the International Date system being Jan. 10, 2013 or 10 Jan. 2013 rather than 1/10/13 or 10/1/13. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
HI everyone,
I am so happy I had my second RTKR this past Wednesday July 17th. I didn't have to in the hospital to long. It feels good to be back in my own bed. Now the healing begins. Bring on the PT cause I am ready. So glad to have that ickey arthritis pain gone. Now it just healing pain.
HOME and to the "other side" the second time around, ihurt222! Maybe it will be time pretty soon to consider a change of user name---it can be done if and when you'd like-just let us know. Follow that BoneSmart mantra and healing and rehab can go hand in hand for a really good recovery.
ihurt222I whistled up your old thread and merged the two so you will be able to look at the recovery articles in post #6.While I was at it, I also created your signature for you!
It would also help us greatly if posts about your recovery could be kept in here.
Thanks for helping me out. I do need to know how to change my name because I don't hurt in that bad way anymore! YEAH!!!!!
I am feeling so good today I cannot believe it. So happy I have completed the second on. THanks for all the kind words.
Hello Hello.
I have had both knees done. The first one January 31st 2013 and the second July 17th 2013. First of all I want to say I do feel good my knees are far from what they use to be, but the knees done is January doesn't feel as good as the knee done in July. I don't even feel the July one. January is still swelling and I really feel it. I had an accident in the hospital. I fell the second day of surgery and my incision broke open and I was back in surgery that day. The capsule wasn't touched but they had to clean it out to make sure no infection would occur. Thankfully all was ok. My question is, is it has almost been a year is swelling still normal at this time? and should I get back to my excercise? Also how important is it to go to the Doctor for the one year check up? I have not made an appointment yet. Do I really need to go?
Tell us a bit more about your pain.....can you please? Like where it is, when it occurs, what makes it worse and what makes it better. Also, what type of pain (ache, stabbing, knife, dull, etc.).
There isn't alot of pain just swelling and tight my knees feels like there is a bubble in it. I am wondering if it didn't heal properly since I had to use it more when I got the other one done in July. I can bend it no problem so maybe this one is just going to feel like this or maybe I need to tighten up the muscles around it. I think I am going to go back to the gym and start my PT excercises again.
