 Hey @HipsterKat
Sorry about the discomfort of the internal stitches coming out.
It's great you're back at Pilates, enjoying it but taking it slow. You're wise.
Have a lovely day!

Help!!! Need reassurance/advice. Yesterday I accidentally rolled onto operated side while doing floor stretches and it felt like something burst and fluid gushed out of my incision. At five weeks, the incision was closed (or so I thought). It was just that one burst, seems to have stopped now. Since I had an infection (in natural hip) previously, that worry is always on my mind. I have regularly scheduled follow up visit with ortho clinic this Friday. In the meantime, all advice, similar experiences, etc., much appreciated!!! I’m freaking out a little.

@HipsterKat Wow - that must have been a bit scary. Let's ask @Josephine for input. Is there increased pain at all? Any swelling or heat around your incision?

Thanks @Jaycey. There is increased tenderness in front of upper thigh. No swelling or heat at incision (though I have been keeping it pretty well iced).

@HipsterKat I don't have any advice, but sure hope all turns out well. I had some swelling that popped out early on and then an indentation where it was and the nurse said just fluid build up and then dispersed. Hopefully that's all it was....
❤❤❤

Which is one reason why I am always loath to go on the floor for anything!
It was just that one burst
Is this for real? And what do you mean by 'just one' that burst? How about posting a photo?

@Josephine, sorry if I didn’t explain that well. I meant that a little burst (about a TB) of fluid came out of incision and then stopped.

I took a pic but now need to figure out how to post... it is telling me file is too large.

I think you should phone the office of your OS to be on the safe side and ask if they'd like you to forward a photo to them. I'm sure there is always a Physician Assistant on call. They will hopefully offer you some reassurance after asking a few questions.

Josephine resides in the U.K. and I can't say for sure, but with the time difference it's unlikely she'll be back on the forum tonight and I'm not sure what her schedule is tomorrow. Personally, I don't think you should wait until tomorrow or Friday to get an answer.
@HipsterKat

You'll need to go into a photo editing program (there should be one on your computer) and reduce the pixel size of your photo. If you took it with a smart phone, it's going to be very high resolution and our Xenforo software will not accept that.

I agree with Layla that you should notify your surgeon's office about what happened. It's probably not a problem, but you want to know that for sure. It would help Jo in her evaluation if you could post the photo so she can take a look at your incision. What did the fluid look like? Color? Thickness? Any odor?

I couldn't even imagine doing floor exercises now let alone at 5 weeks, silly girl! :scaredycat:Hopefully the fluid is not anything evil. Please take care. xx

Well, six-week hipiversary today. (Time flies when you’re having fun, eh?)

Had a VERY good day today! Labs from blood that was drawn on Friday came back great. And... found myself walkin’ around without my cane.

Happy Six Week Anniversary!
Yay for good labs and caneless walks. Lots to celebrate today! :yay:
A great week to you! :)

Have been catching up on everyone’s posts. Just got back from a 9-day family vacation which included 2 cross-country flights. Did have quite a lot of pain on the flights, I think from the pressure. But the stewards were wonderful about bringing bags of ice and I spent much of the time walking in the aisle, which helped a lot. Really fun vacation but it’s nice to be back home!
