    Hey Hipsterkat
Happy 13th day anniversary to you and your new hip hope you're doing well? I agree is soooo difficult to get comfy I'm doing the same as you propping moving etc.... Nevermind at least the arthritis pain is gone - on that side at least . I won't be returning to work as quickly as you i work in retail & it just isn't the right environment for me to go back to hoping when I go for my 6 week check up i get booked in for the next one can't wait to just walk . Hope you're getting some rest take care

Day 14 : Had my 2-week check in at ortho clinic. Saw OS’s PA and she was great — very patient and answered all my questions. Everything checked out fine, though still having the random aches and twitches.

My wonderful mom is in town driving me around on errands today. Feels good to be out of the house and we have a little break from the oppressive east coast heat today.

    Happy Monday everyone!

@Wobbly49, I think you are totally right to wait on going back to a retail position — I could certainly not do it at this point!

    Happy Two Week Anniversary!
It's nice to read you had a good visit with the PA and all checked out. Enjoy the time with your mom and a break from the heat. Happy healing as you continue on your journey!

    3-week anniversary today!

I am doing ok I guess. Still feel really stiff and achy. And am a little annoyed that I still can't walk without a cane -- but I am not going to push it. I do notice that I am the teeniest bit more mobile and flexible each day, so that is good.

Also steri-strip bandage is still holding on strong. Anyone know how long I should leave it before calling doc and seeing if they should remove it? My one from previous surgery had already peeled off on its own by this time.

Sounds like you’re right where you should be right now. Steri-strips are probably not serving much of a purpose anymore, not after 3 weeks. Your OS or PCP can tell you for sure. Not too hard to remove them yourself at home, a little soap and water and gentle pressure should do it.

Like you, I’m planning an early return to work (June 24 half days then regular hours a week later).

Oy, oy, oy!!! Two days back at work (and not even full days) and I am EXHAUSTED!! Y'all aren't kidding about the mental drain. Plus all the "hidden" exertions -- blow drying hair, putting on real shoes, up two flights of stairs.... May need to rethink this plan.

    Oh my stars :xmark:
    @HipsterKat
Didn't know you were back to work So Early.:holysheep:

Yes indeed, your body only has X amount of available for activity and healing so do at least try to do Nothing afterward if you cannot wrestle some extra time off.
Come home and assume the position:ice:

Oh dear Hipsterkat you know we're only 3.5 weeks into recovery ???
I couldn't even think abt going to go work yet I'm still tired although I'm not napping during the day and hubby pushed me round the garden centre today just didn't think I was going to get around, my 2 yr old granddaughter thought it was funny - but like the wacky races
Hope you can get something sorted workwise & you get more time to recover take care

    Four week anniversary! Yay!!

Like a lot of people, I am somewhat discouraged by not making the progress I had hoped for. But then, every so often, I find myself in awe that I am able to do something new without even really thinking about it.

    Hi @HipsterKat
    Happy One Month Anniversary!
I'm wondering what kind of progress you feel you're behind on?
At only 4 weeks post op you're already back to work, which is a lot.
Please make sure you're getting enough rest. There is still an awful lot of healing to take place.
    Wishing you a peaceful weekend.

Thanks @Layla. I just feel like I’m walking funny, and still heavily on cane (rollator for longer distances). But it is getting better each day.

Went to see PA at OS clinic today because I had all kinds of spikes coming out of my incision. Turns out there are the ends of internal stitches (as I suspected). They are really sharp and hurt like pins. But there is nothing they can do about it other than let them run their course.

On a brighter note, I’ve been slowly easing back into pilates and it feels soooooo good! There are several things I can’t do, so I just don’t, but still can participate in about 80-90% of the class.
