TKR Hip & Lower Back Pain

The beach sounds wonderful! Just going outside for a little while helped me on those days when I was feeling down. Depression is real. Try not to blame yourself or compare yourself with others when you are struggling. The fatigue that accompanies this recovery can be so draining. When you can, figure out small treats for yourself. I have even made lists of small treats that would lift my spirits and then referred to them on a bad day when I couldn't think of anything. My list included stuff like a new color of nail polish or a bubble bath or looking for a pretty rock in the yard or cleaning just one window or trying one new vegetable, fruit, or spice from the grocery. Yours will be different, but just anything new or different or self-indulgent can feel like rewarding yourself for persevering. Best wishes and let us know how things go.
Thank you so much! Wonderful idea!! Who knew that this would end up being a 3 year experience!‍‍

Hi @TIC1015
Happy One year Anniversary, Righty! Happy New Year too. I hope 2024 is a good one for you.
Do you have a date for your March THR? If so, please leave that bit of info below and we'll edit your signature accordingly.
All the best to you!
Hi Layla!

Thanks so much! I have a pre-op appt with my surgeon on Feb 2nd. I will have a date then & keep you posted!

XOXO

The strangest thing happened! I posted that I was feeling unsteady for the last several months & my knee felt like it was giving way.

I swear it’s like I wrote it and everything shifted! My cortisone shots in my both bursas have helped immensely. Maybe that was causing the unsteadiness. But whatever it is, both knees are really starting to settle in. I now know what people mean when they say that this is not just a year long recovery. Ugh!

Now, onto the hips! Will keep you posted after pre-op appt in Feb for surgery date.
