Kim22 & Josephine, once again thank you for the advice. I a going for my pre op tomorrow,so hopefully will know a bit more.
Josephine how long would you say would be ok to be back driving after the op?
Thank you

[Bonesmart.org] Hip Arthroscopy
The usual time frame is about 6 weeks post op, but some drive sooner and others later. It depends on your ability to make a fast safe emergency stop.

Thank you Bottomshollo. I will look forward to being driven around for a few weeks. Will make a change from me being the teenagers taxi :)

Hi Kim22
The Pre op was fine. I had the full MOT and everything was in order. I got the answers to a number of questions. The others the nurse said the staff on the ward on the day would be able to answer.
Just getting the usual household chores done at home this weekend so the jobs will not be sat looking at me when I am back home.
Back to pack and then I will be ready for the op. (or as ready as can be)
Hope all is well with you :)

So glad you had a good pre op and that you are now very prepared for next Saturday. I am good thanks for asking all the better for a few sunny days My husband and I had a lovely walk this afternoon out in the country along a disused railway near to where we live and I managed about a mile and a half which is a great improvement I felt very emotional as it is a long time since I have been there due to hip pain. I feel so grateful to my new hip.I will be thinking of you on Saturday

Kim22, It sounds as if you are making excellent progress after your recent op. Keep up the good work. I will let you know how I get on after my op. :)

Have you talked to your surgeon about open surgery to correct the impingement? I have heard mixed things about the scope to correct impingement and that open surgery, while a much more complicated procedure, provides better access to the joint for the impinging bone to be removed.

Hi DTS419, thank you for your help. I have not been given an option on the type of surgery. So maybe the consultant I am under only does one method.

Hi paradiseplace, How did your surgery go ? I hope you are recovering well. Let us know when you can

Don't know where you heard or read this but it's totally untrue.

Hip arthroscopy is by far the most efficient method of removing the impingement and far less invasive with almost no risks of post-op complications as would be in an open procedure. Done in the early stages, arthroscopy is a very efficient method of dealing with FIA. The usual problem is that the first couple or three doctors/surgeons the patient sees may not be well versed in FIA and fail to diagnose it with the consequence that by the time the patient gets to an appropriately experienced hip surgeon, the condition is already progressed past the stage where a simple debridement is no longer a guarantee of a good outcome.

PP, did you read the article Jaycey left you? It explains why these weepy sessions occur. Something you need to know.
