Hi paradiseplace I was wondering how you were getting on.Its really good news that you are having less pain and your life has improved since the op.Six weeks after my arthroscopy my pain was no better and getting worse so I knew by then that the op had not worked and a THR was on the cards I saw the OS on the day of my op who told me he had seen areas of bare bone via the scope It sounds like your case is much more positive The aches and pains you are experiencing may be due to healing.Let us know what the OS has to say on Tuesday.

My recovery is up and down as I am still experiencing soft tissue inflammation from a groin strain at 7 weeks and the OS has told me it can take up to 3 months to be resolved.I am also having some discomfort in the knee of my none operated leg.The roller coaster recovery ride goes on.

Hi Kim22

Sorry to hear you are having an up an down hill ride with your recovery. I hope it settles soon for you. I went to see the OS today and he said that my tear was a large tear and also there was signs of wear and tear. :(. He showed me the scope pictures and my word it did look a large tear. I mentioned to him about the aches and pains that I am currently having and he has said that it is all down to me recovering from the op and the healing process.
I have to go back again in august to see him.
Keep in touch and keep well :) x

Thank you I am pleased to say I am having a better day today but I am a little reluctant to say it as usually when I tell people about improving I usually go backwards on the next day.Its difficult to work out this roller coaster recovery ride.Shame about the large tear did he say how he repaired it ? It's good news there is only signs of wear and tear which most people over 40 have When I had my scope the OS saw areas of bare bone which was disappointing .How are you getting on with the physio sessions ?

Hi Kim22
Hope you are well and things are still good.
The OS said that he had put in bone anchors and a stitch that was a netting to repair the tear. As regards the physio I am getting on ok with the different exercises. Some are more strenuous than others and I know how far to move before I feel twinges. I have been today and could not do a great deal as I have the most painful knee I have ever had. I have taken pain meds more than ever today and they have not helped at all. I cannot understand hy I am having so much pain in the knee as I did not have it like this immediately after the op. The OS said it will be due to the healing as the leg is put through a lot whist they operate on the scope.
I just hope it is ot the sign of a knee problem as I have always had crunchy sounding knees.

I am ok thank you I managed to walk 1.2 miles this morning which was ok but experiencing muscles aches now I am using a muscle inflammation oil recommended on here and following the massage with heat which seems to help a little.I am also using a stationary bike and increasing the length of cycling very gradually so currently on 9 minutes I do that 3times a week.So the very slow progress continues.

I am sorry to hear about your knee pain. They are right when they tell you that they put the knee through a lot during the scope as they have to partially dislocate the hip and they also pull on the knee during the op.Lets hope it is soon resolved but if not you may need an MRI scan.I had a very painful knee before my THR in fact the knee was worse than the hip.The MRI showed early arthritic changes only and it turned out that the knee pain was a referred pain from the hip.The knee has been ok since the op but the other side plays up from time to time.Take care with the exercises and continue to stop before they become painful.I hope you are pain free very soon

Yes, the knee gets traumatized during surgery.. :)

Hi Paradise,

I hope your recovery is going a bit better now. I'm just dropping you a note to say that i'm in the same boat. I had an Arthroscopy at the end of may last year. within 3 months, i knew there was something not right. The pain in my groin was back as well as shooting pains, pain at the side of my buttock and around the sacro-iliac joint. I told my surgeon who fobbed me off and told me "if the pain isn't worse than before the op, i consider it a success" and he also said he wouldn't even scan or xray me for a year post op. I immediately searched for another surgeon. My pain is the same/if not worse than before the surgery, but my mobility has completely gone. I can't move very far and have to use crutches. They're still humming and ha-ing about what to do. I just wish they would do a THR and be done with it. I had the same as you, a large tear, bone anchored and stitched/glued (no-one can confirm which), rim recession and a pincer impingment removed.

Let me know how it goes with you

Hope you are all well. I have not been on here for a while as I have been busy with PT and I have to say enjoying the glorious weather we have been having. A real tonic for recovery. :)

I have no longer got the knee pain I had, so hopefully it has settled down. I was very pleased with myself yesterday as I went on the exercise bike and did 11.56km in 32 minutes. I then went later in the evening and did an hour Pilates. Pilates was my first ever session and I really enjoyed it. I have got up tody and do not have an ache in my body. So all looks good. I am one happy bunny :)

How are you all getting on? :)

paradiseplace Gosh what wonderful news I am so happy for you.it certainly appears without any doubt that the arthroscopy has been a success which will be encouraging for others considering having it done.No wonder you are one happy bunny.Keep us informed of your further progress.
