Here we go again!

That is amazing that you will go home today! I looked into SuperPath after reading about it and didn't find anyone in my state that performs it. Hopefully it will become more widely available as an option since the results sound incredible. Best of luck to you!

Hope all is well with you....this is the rough stuff. Thinking of you today and hoping you are icing and medicated and excited at NO MORE hip pain.:ice:

Ice, yes. medicated, no. The pain meds were making me too nauseous and the pain is manageable with ice so haven't taken pain meds in about 12 hours. Will take small dose to keep ahead of pain if necessary.

Hey lady. Hope you are doing well and looking forward to this new year.
I have my brother and his family in town and some things to handle this weekend, so I wanted to send best wishes for the Best Year Ever for you. Your recovery and reassurance to the newbies has been amazing.
Happy New Year @SaraK

Thanks @Mojo333 - 2017 has been an interesting year but everything that's happened (including 2 hip replacements) has led me to a point where I'm feeling more optimistic about the new year than I have in many years. The guidance and friendship from you and @Layla and so many others on this site is truly appreciated! I forget sometimes that you're "one of us" - with your bilateral this year, it mist be very different for you facing this new year compared to last year. I hope you enjoyed your time with your brother and get some. Down time to relax yourself! :loveshwr:

There are surgeons who do path but are not listed on the manufacturer website. I do not really understand the difference in path and SUPERpath but they are very similar (?). As the MOD's say time and again on here, a surgeon who is highly skilled with a great success rate who works in a reputable hospital is what matters most.

@jbford - When I was doing research on it, I read that Chow combined 2 approaches, one being PATH, in coming up with SuperPath. You are right that there are some fairly similar procedures and some that use the SuperPath method but are not able to use the copyrighted name because they don't satisfy all of the criteria (sometimes because they're not using MicroPort's implant products).

I know some aren't sold on the procedure, but it seemed logical to me. Above all else, though, I was dealing with a skilled surgeon who was very experienced in and had a good track record in the surgical approach that was being used.

Best wishes to you as you move towards surgery!

Hope all is well with you. Nice to see you sharing comfort and hope with others.
Wishing you a super weekend.:) :-) (:

Well, I am 3 days in with the new hip and path technique.
Bruising and swelling minimal and legs feel same length. Quite a bit of muscle stiffness and soreness but that Grindy feeling is completely gone. Absolutely no sensation of having metal hardware in there.

Picked surgeon and hospital with excellent reputation and just let them do what they do every day

@jbford hi
Good to hear you have come through to the post surgery!
I'm following all things Path and SuperPath so found you here
You might be better served to post a recovery thread in the recovery
Part of the forum (unless I missed it ).
Just so everyone can follow you and your journey through
THR.
Best of recovery to you!

Great news @jbford - my surgeon says that stiffness and tightness are more likely with this procedure than some others. That's why he recommends stretching protocol with PT. Happy to provide any info you want but I've had 2 quick recoveries. 2nd was faster - prob in part because I knew what to avoid and where I could push. Welcome to this side!
