Hi
@zlady - lovely to hear how your knee is progressing and how you are doing.
I am sure that the tight band thing will go soon. In my experience a certain ache or twinge will really annoy me for ages, then I'll have a couple of days when it is not noticeable. I get so excited by the improvement that I usually then overdo things, and my joy is short lived as the ache returns. This keeps happening, but the important thing is that the twinge periods get shorter and the good ones longer, until you forget that bit of knee had ever ached before!
It is a long old haul for many of us. My own private opinion is that all the OS's know perfectly well that recovery takes more like a year rather than the number of weeks they tell us it will be when we first sign up for the procedure. Perhaps they think if they tell the truth no one will have it done?
I am sorry that your husband thinks you would be 'fixed' by 6 months - it cant help that you are young and have a young family. The expectations for 'bouncing back' must (for the uninitiated) be high.
My other half is not the most tolerant, but he has got used to years upon years of having to consider my knee in things. However, like your husband I think he fell for the hype that I would be running around like a spring lamb weeks after the surgery - but the setback I had at 6 weeks really knocked him back and he was very worried. Since then he has been telling me to not overdo and take things easy and slowly - in fact I am finding his reticence for me to get on with things just as frustrating!
Last week, on the spur of the moment, I booked a 5 day break in early October for us to go to Budapest. I hadn't felt confident that I could meet his sightseeing expectations up until now. He surprised me by being extremely conscientious about the whole thing. Now its down to me and the knee to do the business! Fingers X'd.
Just remember to tell yourself that 'Every day in every way, I am getting better and better'. It is slow, but we are getting there!
Hope all continues to go well for you.
