THR Ginny's Recovery Thread (LTHR)

Glad to hear you are feeling things are easing.:ok:
Still early days and lots of healing happening but it will get there!
Healing hugs:loveshwr:

Day 20

Things seem to be going OK hip wise. I was tired today after some visitors but if that is all that i have to moan about i can count myself lucky!

I wish everybody well.

Hi, there, @Ginny12. I agree that visitors can be tiring, but it is so lovely to have folks around to chat and laugh with, that the exhaustion that frequently hits when they leave still means you want more visitors going forward! My brother and his new girlfriend stopped by last night for a drink and appetizers before we headed off to a local bar, where my youngest son is the "Trivia Host". I was tired when I got home (but we won 1st place!) but a happy kind of tired, like you experienced, I'm guessing. So, it's another day passed and another day starting along the recovery journey--have a good day!

Good morning...:mcoffee:eh, well it is for me.
I forget where folks are sometimes!:)
The one month mark for me was one of crazy emotional days.:good-bad:
Glad to have new hips but tentative.
Hope you aren't feeling with that!

Hope your day is a good day!:tada:

You're doing great, Ginny!
Tiring easily is common. Rest as you're able.
Thanks for your continued support here. I hope you have a peaceful evening!
@Ginny12

Day 22

All seems to be well, words cannot express how grateful i am to be able to walk again. It really is true it is the basics in life that are the most important.

I would like to also express again my gratitude to everybody on this site. In particular, the moderators, it is mind boggling to me how they find time to respond to each individual post. And not rubbish replies either, really well thought out kind and compassionate posts. When the human race is sometimes portrayed as intrinsically selfish i say pants to that when communities like BoneSmart exists.

Warmest healing wishes to all x

You're so sweet, Ginny, and on behalf of BoneSmart, I thank you for your very kind words.
The forum is a wonderful community of members offering comfort, support and encouragement to one another. I found it to be a great resource during my recovery also. It was comforting to communicate and receive tips from those walking before and alongside me. I can't imagine my recovery journey without that camaraderie.

Thank you for your thoughtful contributions to the forum. I'm sure your posts have lifted many during their recovery journey and your dedication immensely helped one member in particular facing the anxiety of an approaching surgery. Sometimes all people need is to feel someone cares. Thanks for caring!

It sounds like all is going well. I hope you have a wonderful week!
@Ginny12

I had lots of encouragement, virtual hugs, caring advice, sympathy and empathy, and cheers extended to me on this forum as I embarked on my hippy journey.
Love to know I can give back.
No one knows better than those who have been there!
It is a very spiritual experience to take your life back, after THR, I think!
Onward!

How nice of you to give a shout-out to the moderators, @Ginny12, they are truly lovely and wonderful folks! I think I noted on my thread at one point that I simply didn't know how they were able to be so compassionate and encouraging to so many people, day after day. There are never any "don't be a baby--buck up" comments, and when one feels emotions spinning out of control, both pre and post op, they are so reassuring and have cheerful senses of humor as well. And I agree with you--being able to walk again, and without horrible aching pain, is true miraculous. Okay, my left hip is interfering with my shiny new right hip in terms of a full and pain-free life, but it's still way better than pre-surgery. Hope you continue to get better and stronger with each day that passes--one more day forward in your recovery--hurray!

So glad it is going well for you after the initial apprehension. Getting to the pain free stage is such a great moment! Hope your recovery continues to be fabulous!

Day 24

All seems to be well and i am extremely grateful for that.

I ordered the Active Scar Shield and it arrived today. My scar is quite small and it was glued (posterior approach) so it will be interesting to see how effective it is.

Warmest healing wishes to all.

Happy Friday, Ginny!
It's great to hear you're doing well.

Will be interested to read your opinion on the Active Scar Shield.

I hope you have a lovely weekend! :SUNsmile:
@Ginny12

Almost the weekend for me, and I'm assuming you're there right now in the UK, @Ginny12. Hope you are going into your weekend feeling positive and strong, another week under your belt and I trust, compared to last weekend, you feel you've made good progress. All seems to be going well for you, and that's great!

Dear All,

Day 25 (Where does time go!)

My laptop is unwell so i am not writing much but i just want to shout out how grateful i am for all the support i receive here. I am fine and i think that my naturally lazy nature works in my favour in this recovery period. I love reading and can do it now and ignore the housework with not a bit of bother on me!

I wish all well.

Glad all is restful and easy with you @Ginny12
Hope your Sunday is sweet!:angel:

Reading vs housework? Never a question--go with what you love (and I know reading will win out every time). Enjoy this recovery time, relax, ice and don't worry about the dust bunnies--you can get to those someday. Now is your "me time"! happy Sunday.

Hello :wave:
Hope you had a nice weekend Ginny.
Five more days and you'll be one month post op already. Time flies.
Warmest wishes for a wonderful week!
@Ginny12

Hi,

One month today post op.

Things seem to be going well and small improvements daily. That said, i would have been totally stressed out about loads of things post op normally, but, all i have to do is read a few posts on this site and i calm down as i can see everybody is going thru similar things. For example, i thought that my wound was not healing well, but i looked at the post op pictures and saw that in fact it was no worse than the ones posted. Anybody who read my pre op posts may be thinking that i have had some type of personality transplant as i am not sending out frantic post op posts! Well the sole reason for this apparent calmness is because of all the generous information and wisdom that my fellow BoneSmarties share.

I thank you one and all.

Thanks on behalf of BoneSmart! I agree, Ginny. I just typed elsewhere had it not been for BS and my parents who each had both hips replaced, I would have been a nervous mess. Wondering about every little thing. It was nice to post questions here, or read threads and heave a sigh of relief to find out that the day's malady was normal. I'm happy that you're doing well and continually noticing progress. Keep it up, you're doing great.
A wonderful week to you!
@Ginny12
