THR Ginny's Recovery Thread (LTHR)

So sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Caring for her while you were recovering from hip surgery was such an act of love and commitment. I remember feeling lost after my dad died, as I'd spent so much time taking him to appointments, sitting in hospital rooms, and helping him out so they could stay in their home. It took me awhile to realize I now had more time to invest in taking care of myself, as well as helping others.

My doctor had wanted to do my hip surgery several months sooner than I had it done. I had several things coming up that were important and I didn't want to miss them--helping out with a new grand baby, hosting a huge graduation party, taking a prepaid 3 week trip to Europe, etc. My doctor felt quite certain I'd most likely be able to do all of them (with some modifications maybe on the trip to Europe in terms of how much I walked.)if I had it done right away. I just couldn't wrap my head around that, and postponed it until after my trip to Europe---about 5 months. I wish I had done it sooner---I know I would have enjoyed everything more. At two months post op I already felt better than I had in 8 months---of course that's an unpredictable variable. But I did relate to your comment about putting it off, then doing it, and...............being so glad you did:) :yes!:
