TKR Feeling my new knee<

I googled descealling and nothing at all came up. Did you spell it correctly?

As I read about this, that's what I thinking and afraid of

And Since I do not know when I will see the OS I was wondering if I have to stop my stationary bike and I had started to put 15 pounds of weight on my knee to help it extend. Maybe that is not very good. It's driving me a bit or a lot crazy

I’d stop using the weight right away. The best way to work on the extention is to use gravity. I sat in my chair, pushed the ottoman away to let my foot rest on it, then my leg bridges between the chair and ottoman. As far as the stationary bike, if it hurts stop, but I wouldn’t use any resistance at this point. Check out the link below to see the best ways to “work” on extention.

You’re welcome! Let’s see what Jo has to say when she’s this. Hopefully she’ll knownthe lingo.

I certainly wish I knew what that lingo means. Hopefully we'll know soon.

As for putting a weight on your leg I personally would stop that immediately. It seems like that would help you but its just not good for your knee / leg. Put your leg Straight out on an ottoman or table a few times a day for a few minutes I think will help you more.

started to put 15 pounds of weight on my knee to help it extend

I'd really like to offer you some structured advice but in order to do that, I also need to ask you some questions. Are you willing for me to do that?

Here y'go then!

It would be very helpful if you would answer each one individually - numbered as I have done - in as much detail as you can then I'll come back as see where you are ....

1. what are your pain levels right now? (remember the 1-10 scale: 1 = no pain and 10 = the worst you can imagine. And don't forget to factor in other forms of pain such as soreness, burning, stabbing, throbbing, aching, swelling and stiffness).

2. what pain medications have you been prescribed, how much are you taking (in mg please) and how often?

3. how swollen is your leg compared to these?

4. what is your ROM - that's flexion (bend) and extension (straightness)

5. are you icing your knee at all? If so, how often and for how long?

6. are you elevating your leg. If so how often and for how long?

7. what is your activity level? What do you do in the way of housework, cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc., and

8. are you doing any exercises at home? If so what and how often?
This is the most crucial question so please help me by using the format I have left as an example
(which means please make a list and not an essay!)

Exercises done at home
- how many sessions you do each day
- enter exercise by name then number of repetitions of each
etc., etc.

Anything done at PT
- how many times a week
- enter exercise by name then number of repetitions of each
etc., etc.

1. It can go up to 7
It burns, soreness aching stifness and swelling

2. I have stopped all pain medication

3. Moderate swollen

4. Last year was 118 rom, this year is 105. Extension is -5 and has been threre since the beginning

5. I do ice when the pain is to much for about 20 min. And repeat after 10 min a couple of times.

6. Yes I do elevate, in a day it might be for a couple of hours.

7. I do almost everything around the house but sometimes I have to stop because the pain is to much, like standing in the same position for more than ten minutes. Exemple, taking a shower, washing my hair and after that I have to sit if I want to style it.

8. I bike every morning for 30 min. At first, it hurts and after it's ok.

9. I have stopped PT 2½ years ago.

Do not forget I had my RTKR more than 3 years ago.

Thank you for your advice

Because the pain is always there and it varies depending what I do

Sorry, I still don't understand. Does the pain med not affect the degree of pain at all?
What did you take and what dose? Also at what times did you take it.

You see, I cannot answer your questions if you don't give me the entire picture.
It would be like trying to drive with one hand tied behind my back!

I was on Emtec-30mg 2 every 4 hours, I also have acetaminophene with 8mg of codeine 1 to 2 pills everys 4 to 6 hours. I would take the last one if the pain do not diminished.

Emtec-30mg- I also have acetaminophen with 8mg of codeine
That IS Emtec! "acetaminophen 300 mg / codeine 30 mg"

1. It can go up to 7. It burns, soreness aching stiffness and swelling
That's quite a high pain score.
2. I have stopped all pain medication
I suggest you start using them again. But that Emtec is inadequate for you. I suggest you take two tablets with an extra regular Tylenol and see if that helps. Do be careful to ensure you don't take more than 4,000mg of Tylenol (acetaminophen) each 24hrs.
3. Moderate swollen
Well, that is also a form of pain. Did you factor that into your pain score in question 1?
4. Last year was 118 ROM, this year is 105. Extension is -5 and has been since the beginning
Just a small comment here: ROM is range of motion and includes BOTH flexion and extension. As you've written it, it looks like you consider ROM to be just flexion!
Anyway, whatever - you've got terrific ROM anyway - both of them!
5. I do ice when the pain is to much for about 20 min. And repeat after 10 min a couple of times.
You accomplish little or nothing in 20 minutes. Ice for at least 40-60mins and more than 4 times a day.
6. Yes I do elevate, in a day it might be for a couple of hours.
Good.
7. I do almost everything around the house but sometimes I have to stop because the pain is to much, like standing in the same position for more than ten minutes. Example, taking a shower, washing my hair and after that I have to sit if I want to style it.
Jolly good!
8. I bike every morning for 30 min. At first, it hurts and after it's ok.
That's not the right way to do it. If it hurts, then stop and try again after about 10-15 minutes. If you battle on, your knee will get sensitized and end up having chronic pain. And you do NOT want that!
9. I have stopped PT 2½ years ago.
Yes, I did remember!
