TKR Feeling my new knee<

Yes I do almost everything I want, but I still have to stop because it's hurting

But how do I get there? Or is it too late?
Since you are only 14 weeks out, you still have plenty of time to have your extension improve. It can actually take many months.
I would very much appreciate if you could read my post of last Tuesday and maybe give me your opinion.
I can't even see a post for 'last Tuesday' much less what you said! Perhaps you would quote the essential bit of the post for me?

Hi to you all Bonesmart people, @Josephine
It's been a long time that I did not post anything. My life was kind of hard for a while there and I did not have the heart or time to keep on sharing because it was kind of depressing. My father died within 24 hours, the next day my mother was hospitalized for 3 weeks. I had to clean out the apartment and move her to another room in the same building. My father was the one who took care of her. Meanwhile there was the funeral to organize and the estate to settle. We are two girls and I am the oldest, my sister is still working but I had the good luck to have my husband by my side each step of the way.

So,we went to Florida as scheduled, and needless to say I was exhausted and I had to mourning my dad, and it was hard. It still is. So my RTKR took second and last thing to take care of.

I had good intention of execising in the pool but it was not heated and not cleaned every day and I didn't go into the ocean because I didn't feel stable enough on my feet. I exercise to help my rom and extention and was very disapointed when I went back to my OS. After sending me for an xray he just told me all was good and that was it. I told him about the pain in my knee around the patella, the tendinentis of the goose foot, the fact that when walking down stairs it hurts a lot and finally the swollen kind of bubble alongside of the shinbone
I even told him when I walk it feels like everything is mooving inside. He smiled and said that it might all go away someday.

So, yesterday, I saw my GP and he gave me two shots of cortisone on the inside of my knee. It helped but below and on the right side of the kneecap I still have the same problem. I still ice and Elevate, my rom is 120 and extension is the same at 5, I have done the exercises from BoneSmart, I have put weights on my knee (10/15 pds) which irrates me a lot, my husband was told to push on my knee with both hands and still no amelioration.

I still can't sit at a table for a long diner, and when I stand up well, me knee is stiff and it hurts for a while.

Since I have pass the one year anniversary, Am I stuck with these problems? Tomorrow, I will try to put up some photo because I am not sure that I am clear about my problems.

Thank you for reading me

:loll:@Josephine please note that my RTKR was in 2015. A lot of people didn't see that

I don't know what BIT means. You can start at the 5th parag. From the end

Have you seen a different OS that specializes in revisions for another opinion? I know my current OS was able to pinpoint my problems right away and explained to me what needed to,be done to fix it.

To see a specialist I need a referral from my GP wich I asked for. He wanted to start with cortisone infiltration before. So I had one last week and I will have another one on Sept. 12. The first one help a bit so now I have to see what the other one will do. After that, if it doesn't work I hope that he will give me the paper to see another OS.

What does your GP even know about TKRs? I know mine knows nothing and doesn't even do cortisone shots.

I really understand what you mean but that's the way it works. And even if or when he gives me this referral
I will have an appointment maybe in one year. Do not fall of your chair, it really works like this here. Unless it's an emergency like an infection or a broken bone.:bawl:

Oh, Tina, I know only too well. I live in Sidney, BC where many many people can't even get a GP. When I didn't see my ortho in over 3 months I had to get a new referral and wait many months to get an apt with him even tho I'd seen him for several years. I was considered a new patient. When I finally decided I needed a TKR the wait time was 12+ months! That's why I went to Washington state for my surgery and rehab. But I'm a US citizen and have Medicare and supplemental so cost wasn't an issue. The waiting lists and lack of specialists is unacceptable..

Hi @Tina48
I'm so sorry you are having so many problems, you've had a difficult time over the last year. I haven't got a magic wand (I wish I did), but am not having an easy time either, and just want you to know you are not alone.

That's unbelievable how long you have to wait to see a OS. My GP doesn't do injections of cortisone, that is left to the OS to do. The PA doesn't even do it. It was the OS himself.

At my OS office the PA can do Visco injections, but not cortisone. Only the OS does those.

Thank you all for your input. It seems things are different depending where you live. Newlybionic, it seems that in Canada we have the same problem to get a doctor even if we each are at the end of the country. Even in Quebec not everyone as a GP. My husband and I are lucky to have one.

I saw my GP today and i'm going for an echography of the righ side of the tibia. Now he says that it might be tendenitis. If you go to page 7 there is a photo that shows what I mean.

I was wondering if somoene knows if I still can have more extension after a year. It is still at 5 and bothers me a lot.
Tina

Yes, Tina, you can get more extension, even more than a year after surgery.
This article may help.
Extension: how to estimate it and ways to improve it
Just choose one or two of these suggestions, and do it a few times a day. Only do it to the point of discomfort, never to pain.
This is one you can do anywhere - waiting for an appointment, while watching TV/reading:

Hi everybody,
I have been out of the forum for a while but the pain never stopped. So, finally last month I saw another doctor who referred me to another surgeon. To make a long story short, this week I had two kind of scintigraphy and I just got the report. So I was wondering if someone knows what it means descealling of the prosthesis?
Thank you in advance if someone knows something about that or had the same problem.

I forgot to say that my Rom went from 118 to 105 in a year and my extension is still -5
