Revision TKR Complicated RTKR revision 2015, considering LTKR

Remember you can't compare one surgery to another and don't let your friends and family do it either. :)
Keep up the rest. It's your job right now to be "lazy."

But, how long can anyone just sit around without seeing any progress ? I am literally back where I was week 2, except my bend is a bit better. I really was much better 10 days ago...

I think I will call the OS tomorrow just to get his perspective. If he says this will go away, or that's its 'normal '
I'll be reassured and go back to my recliner...

Just spoke to the surgeons office. He wants to see me tomorrow. I'm glad. The pain is getting worse and its like the drugs are having very little effect at all despite doing nothing but resting, elevating, icing.

Randi, glad your OS can see you tomorrow. Maybe you'll get some answers. Hang in there!

Scary to feel like you are going backwards, I am sure. Glad your OS fit you in so quickly.

Thanks @wings and @'Slainte. I need reassurance or a plan.. This limbo and this pain are not doable. Honestly, I've always been known for my ridiculously high pain threshold. Either that's changed or this is really a zinger.

@Josephine . I wonder if you have any thoughts or questions I should ask tomorrow ?

Glad you are getting in to see the OS. I have just caught up with your thread and I'm very sorry to hear you have been having so much pain. I hope the OS listens to you and doesn't just look at X-rays. You can't see pain and X-rays are not good for showing soft tissue problems. If you are resting and still having pain then it sounds as if you have strained something. The answer may be to rest some more and then that is your job. Hey I wish I could take my own advice!! Maybe I wouldn't be in pain.

I kept on my OS until he finally saw something was really wrong with mine. Now after all that the revision is good, just taking forever just like before. The Revision OD told me it's not supposed to hurt, so he agreed something was wrong. I think your OS will do the same, be very persistent and detailed with him. If you gage to ask him to hold his hand in the location as you move, what ever it takes.

Thank you all for the support. I'm nervous about what he might say but better to know than to worry about it all night. So tired...:mcoffee:

Thinking of you.

Hopefully you will get some answers today!

Thanks all. I've been waiting almost 2 hours to see the doc... Now my knee is burning from sitting

Just got back from the surgeon. I must say he is very nice and concerned and thanked me for letting him know I was having problems. Took x rays and examined and everything basically is ok says my pain must be from some soft tissue that was stretched in the surgery and then injured by specific Physio exercise. But admitted its really a mystery. So off my feet as much as possible for 10 more days, and no Physio till then and added gabapentin for nerve pain. Have to talk to him in a week and see where to go from there .. Not happy but sort of reassured.

Glad to hear your OS visit was reassuring. As far as going back to PT, since they injured you, why would you go back?
The waiting must have been torture for your knee, hope it is feeling better now that you are home.
:sleep::ice::elevate: and :chillpill: on schedule.

I guess the thinking is that Physio could help with strengthening. We'll see.

When you are able to start walking your strength will return. You will have to see where you are later.

It is hard, having a set back is so frustrating. I hurt my knee badly about 6 weeks after my TKR, nerve injury, and stretched tendons. It was no fun!

The soft tissue I can understand. I have that issue on the patella. So they are avoiding any PT in that area because it is still healing. Kind of sounds like you have areas that got all cut up and need to heal. I know when I move those area they are sore. Hope that's all it is for you and you get relief after you body heals up. So he didn't say anything about inflammation hmm.
